Raised in a strict Christian community where secular music was banned, London DJ and drag artist Airy Something turned rebellion into art—spinning joyous sets and proving freedom is built from anything.
In this candid interview, Airy discusses their journey from a conservative small town to the clubs of London, music and style, and their upcoming book.
Hinterhaus tells the behind-the-scenes stories of the people who make underground music happen.

My gorgey cowgirl! @janetdevlinofficial ❤️🔥
Janet is so fun to dress and a great boss! She’s kind, hilarious, open and a mind bendingly talented musician!
Janet became very famous in the UK as a child on @thexfactor and navigated (successfully) the minefield of being in the public eye so young.
She’s out the other side and getting ready to release her second country-rock album, recorded with world class musicians in Nashville.
She’s also smoking hot.

I cobbled together a meaningful frock for my beautiful friend and client @missbabysol
Baby is British-Congolese (among many other things) and they were keen to incorporate raffia into one of their stage looks.
Raffia clothing is one of many Congolese style touch points (google La Sape) It’s a proud nation of fashionistas.
We chose black raffia fringe to take it to a more culture-straddling place (and because I can’t weave like Congolese artisans obvs)
We used a traditional string vest as its base to bring in a masculine, London-y, Afro-Caribbean uncle element (because enby)
The silver earrings are a tribute to Baby’s former band @soulsuckas founded with their late friend. And the black feathers on the earrings are a nod to one of Baby’s favourite songs, Blackbird by The Beatles.
The boots are meaningless, but c**t.
