It’s been 5 years since I started my filmmaking journey with this horny little piece. No screenplay, just a couple paragraphs, a storyboard, and a small group of generous friends. We screened it at @thehighlandtheatre and then a bunch of fests, including our favorite, in Mexico City. But I was off social media for my first few years making films so I never shared it here. #35mm bts for the new Faouzia mv, directed by @bobbyhanaford produced be me, and shot by @natasha.abdul with lots and lots of lights from @justinusami Love shooting Czech fomapan stock. This, underexposed a stop and pushed a stop. We shot the actual video on 35mm vision3 500T, so I wanted the supplementary stills to have a markedly different look, while still leaning into the vintage noir aesthetic. Got through the whole shoot without Bobby losing an internal organ! Hoorah. Onto the next one!

The last of 3 videos we filmed in 1 day for @redbullrecords . Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially my savage art dept who transformed this atrium (Jacob and Cooper), my brother Ashi for running playback while pulling focus all day, Iain (always), the young wizard, Jacob “Basically Your Dad” Staudenmaier, who edited all three of these with zest and flow, Dalton for generously lending us his space for the thousandth time, my brother Keyhan for taking all the time needed in the kitchen to bring these colors to full life, and Virginia who endures the mania of me directing with grace and charm. Squeaky shout out to Bobby for supporting from the hospital bed as surgeons removed extraneous organs from his belly. Congrats to Sunny for writing an amazing album. Every song feels good. We might not deserve it but we have it this summer. You’re a beast and the world is lucky to have you.
