Cutting this film for Onyx was a great journey. Directed by the insanely talented Alex Cook and shot by Cinematographer Iain Trimble. It follows the story of a girl who dreams to become an Olympic weightlifter. We built this edit to feel frenetic - chasing her drive, her sweat, her obsession - all culminating on the biggest stage. Love how this turned out. Grateful to be trusted with stories like this. Garmin // Garmin Running Such a pleasure collaborating with Director @andrewwhite.studio . In this edit we explored both in photography and sound, ways to capture the feeling of long runs. We started with using NASA’s sound library and continued to build from there. The vision Andrew had for this, and his trust to make it happen made for such a blast in the edit. @cosmostreeteditorial

Commercial Feature: Onyx Weightlifting - “Every Rep” “Iain and I decided from the beginning to shoot this on film. It was a relatively scrappy project otherwise, so we didn’t have a ton of tools or fancy ways to move the camera. We had to tweak some of our original ideas because our options were a tripod, handheld, or a dana dolly. One technical thing we did use was a time shift box to streak the film in a few places, like going from competition injury to the doctor’s office. We also used strobes and filters to create the ending flash montage. We wanted to create a few fragmented and impressionist moments that tried to visualize the feeling of exhaustion and dissociation that comes in the middle of training and otherwise traumatic moments.” - Alex Cook, director Director: @w.a.cook DP: @iaintrimble Editor: @edward_editss Colorist: @sgllng Production Designer: @taylor.venegas 1st AC: @ryansax 2nd AC: @miloclaytonkim VFX Artist: Nick Chamberlain Film Scanner: @thom_kuo Composer: @soundslikegiosue Sound Mixer: @jeremyjeremy Production Coordinator: @zopressey Producer: @nuertaqa Executive Producer: Michael Sagol & Salim El Arja Starring: @sunny_richesson & @brentedwardmckay Production Company: @caviar.tv & @radiancepictures Post House: @cosmostreeteditorial Color House: @_baconx_

🎥 Cornerman today 🥊. Color on the way. 🎨 In Post-production on multiple projects right now and it feels great. It’s really true what they say: Every film is made 3 times. When you write it, when you shoot it and then when you edit it. And you learn some much through each portion of the process, it always surprises you. You have to pivot, adjust, improvise, improve and re-imagine at every stage. Here we go again. 🎞️ Shouts out to my co-creator, director and fellow producer @samrfindlay and my incredible DP @coryvetter and two-time editor editor @edward_editss 🔥 I could not be more grateful for these collaborators. They each truly experts in their field and we are lucky they took the time to make our movie come to life. Thanks boys. 🙌🏿 #KC #indie #film #boxing #Short #Cornerman

Special thanks to @josephkahn for having me come on board for this film. The journey from pre-viz to editing on set, along with the numerous VFX elements, was certainly an exciting challenge—but one that pushed me creatively in all the right ways. Also side note, @direalshaggy was wonderful to meet and work with! And thank you @chancler for being a constant mentor and friend since the day we met. 🙏🏻

Last year I had the honor of cutting a feature film with @burghartbrothers and collaborate with two of the most creative minds I know. This scene was built in the edit, required a lot of new ideas on how to best convey our hero’s final moments, and how the memory of his brother keeps him going. Indie films can be such an intense journey and I’m grateful for the opportunity to tell these stories and share in bringing them to life. The brothers made this such a good time. @head_count_film
