My little Maya Jane is 5 years old today - bittersweet because this girlhood thing goes too fast so I’m tryin’ to keep my eyes peeled and my heart wide open. She’s one of a kind in every way. Spreading her joy to everyone lucky enough to be in proximity. I love her so damn much and I’m not always gonna get it right but being her dad will always be my favorite thing I get to do in this life.
I recently wrote & directed a series of commercial spots for @calhounsjewelers as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary & this is the main :30 from the series. I couldn't be happier with how they turned out - @prores.daniel was, as always, a brilliant creative partner and achieved a pretty stunning look here. I've always enjoyed listening & watching Ben play the piano - I've spent a good amount of time just hanging and listening to him play in between spurts of good conversation. He has since become a master piano tuner, an art in and of itself. He was kind enough to let me point a camera at him while he tuned up the Wurlitzer Baby Grand out at Saltwell on a chilly day in December. I love the calm & tactile nature of this tedious process. Plus - I finally got to properly capture one my favorite tunes he played me years ago in one of those hang sessions, "Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans". Relax and enjoy.

I recently had the opportunity to create this little piece with @dejabrooksks for the final installment of @transformationscharitygala . This was played on a video wall on stage during Deja’s performance as she lip synced & interacted with it. Among all duties for sound & picture I also played the role of “Shitty DJ” 😂. Was a little surprised when I was approached about this article & I generally get a little squirmy when things are centered on me or my goings on - but I think it’s a testament to the effect this band and their music has on folks. When they play, it’s magnetic. And as I’ve gotten to know them it’s apparent that the magnetism is more than just the music. All I can say is stay tuned - but don’t hold your breath. Low and slow with this one. ❤️

A film very near and dear to me drops on Netflix tomorrow. I am very proud to have had this experience amongst such incredible human beings. If you’ve got the time, I promise it’s worth it - and I’d definitely be interested in any thoughts/feelings/feedback you may have after watching. Warning though to those who may be triggered by the topic of sexual abuse. It’s heavy but it’s beautiful in it’s exploration of the possibilities for healing and moving forward. It’s sort of unbelievable that Procession has the opportunity to have a platform like Netflix to be seen around the world & that the risk these men took by dredging up such intense and awful memories wasn’t for naught. Love to all y’all & congrats! ❤️
This love is strange. It’s immense & unwieldy. Didn’t know they made the stuff this strong. Like something so hot it feels cold. I love her so much it hurts. It’s funny to retrain your brain that crying doesn’t always mean you’re sad. What a strange & spectacular thing I didn’t know I wanted or needed.
