This weekend @ongoing_music released a new song “Cherry Cola” and is playing a bill with some really excellent songwriters Sunday the 5th at @theavalonlounge . I think the song has made its way to most streaming services by now, and is on bandcamp (link in bio). First one released from the new album that is almost done! Check out the beautiful single art from @iwillstudios , and the glorious poster by @eeaammoonn ! The show promises to be a good one, hope to see you there! Spring is springing and we’ll be singing!
Very excited for this show coming up on Sunday at @theavalonlounge ! We get to share the stage with two not-to-be-missed acts— @erisywatt is a wonderful songwriter on tour all the way from LA, and @russeltheleaf is upstate New York’s resident song wizard who truly makes some of my favorite contemporary music—and they have a new improvised record out this weekend, available on VHS! @ongoing_music will serve up nothing less than our bare souls as we play songs we have been trying to figure out how to record (I think we are close, but more on that later…). Early-ish show, so that we can all get our precious sleep and properly integrate the memory of said show. Hype!
Excited to play the first @braden_bodensteiner show in many years next Friday, November 3rd, in Rochester. We’re doing songs from his (really good) album Frankensteiner, released earlier this year. These songs have been fun to reimagine for the live show, and we are excited to share the bill with @rbatorphans (from Buffalo) and @_lechemalo (on tour from Brooklyn) at the South Wedge Mission. Hope to see you there!
Today we’re sharing a new @braden_bodensteiner song called “440.” It’s just on bandcamp right now (link in bio) but it’s going to be on an album called “Frankensteiner,” which will be out this summer. This one was especially fun to work on, with lots of juicy prophet layers, space to get weird with drums and an arrangement that is a real journey!
Braden wrote it and performed it with guitars, keys and radios.
Katie (@ongoing_music ) played flute and sang harmony.

Next Saturday, May 6th, @ongoing_music is playing at @utilitybicycleworks in Kingston, joining a great bill with Ciarra Fragale and Larry Locust. This is a wonderful space to hang out and see music and contemplate adventure. Speaking of adventure…Ongoing has been moving into some very…adventurous creative zones of late, and after a few shows in may we will probably focus on recording for a bit. So come see us while the tubes are hot, and learn what all these fun genres sound like!

A month or so ago Katie, Jon, Braden and I got together and demoed 17 new @ongoing_music songs…spent a weekend working through them live in different styles before committing to recording for “real.” Excited to start working on that record soon, but before that we’ll be playing a set of some of these songs live at The Avalon Lounge in Catskill on Thursday March 30th, with @eliza.niemi@bluerangerband@sealedcontainer . We’re fans of these artists and so while we are excited to play these fresh tunes…we are equally (if not more) excited to catch their sets! Do give them a listen if you don’t know them yet, and I hope to see you at the show! 🕺🏻🎙️👽🚙

Next Tuesday, March 7th, @maybirdmusic is playing the @theavalonlounge , supporting @constant_smiles with our friend @no_no_finger . That’s right, you can have your tofu plate (or whatever your order is) on a Tuesday on this special occasion and catch some fine tunes!!
And this is a killer lineup. Always excited to check in with Del’s pop magic as No No Finger and I have been listening to the Constant Smiles singles on repeat (their new record comes out this Friday on Sacred Bones)! Maybird is devising a pretty unique set list for the show…also, this year we are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of our first record Down & Under, and we will have a small batch of D&U tapes to celebrate the occasion. Will likely have a few bags of coffee as well!!
