In the Spring of ’24 I was generously gifted a Zoom H5 Recorder by Hayden Beck. I soon began recording everything, taking it with me everywhere in the Summer of ‘24. My first impression of this practice was ,”How have I not been doing this my whole life?”.
I was fired from my job and collecting unemployment. I would drive to a place close by and take a recording, some photos and video. I would arrive back at the studio and improvise based on the memory of what I had recorded outside, then I would place the field recording in and marvel at the not-so-random coincidences that would occur upon first playback.
This album brings me to Summer. The back door is open, Frank is by my side while I clean the dishes. Hannah and I chat on the back porch during a Full Moon. It’s all here for you now, to experience my ‘Summer of ‘24’.

Well folks it’s that time :) Tides & Rain is the music I wanted to hear, I’m so so grateful to this band and everyone who’s supported in so many different ways. The fourth and final installment of this EP collection ends with ‘Half of “The Session”’ (RFR-012) On December 22nd 2024, @joshuafmarre and I set up at RPI’s Chapel + Cultural Center with our Uncle Erich’s TEAC 40-4 and Mixers. I brought a big Condenser Mic to use on the Piano, forgetting the Mixer had no +48v capability. I looked at the Pulpit and Thank God a Dynamic Mic was sitting there for us to borrow. I love this recording, it’s literally 2 Mics, 2 Brothers to Tape. Josh brought his amp and guitar, I played the Steinway. This would be the last recording the 40-4 would successfully get through, as now he is awaiting Repair this Winter. Listen closely, you’ll hear the machine contribute wobbles and dips at random. @supplybabe_5 took the photos of Josh & I at Grafton.
