@SceneHome : ABI Milan Cairo is a stone design house born from an unlikely partnership between Italian Simone Becchio and Egyptian Robin Abdalla - a third-generation Cairo stone man whose family business, Marmonil, has been quarrying and crafting natural stone for over sixty years. This week, you can find their work being exhibited at this yearās Milan Design Week 2026.
The name for ABI came from a loving nickname between the two, as a nod to Simoneās fascination with the ancient Egyptian god, Anubis. That same reverence for Egyptās ancient past forms the foundational core of what ABI does today.
ABI brings international designers to Egypt, immerses them in its ancient heritage - the museums, the temples, the quarries - and invites them to reinterpret it through contemporary design. The stones they work with are exclusively Egyptian, and specifically, the same ones the pharaohs used: black and red Aswan granite, Sinai limestone, and alabaster. Some of these stones have been quarried for 25,000 years.
The cultural collaboration between the two founders has grown to include four designers whose work is now on display in Milan - each piece a conversation between ancient material and contemporary design. This year, ABI is presenting their latest collection at Milan Design Week as part of āSalone Raritasā: a curated salon dedicated to high-end design, antiques, and limited edition craftsmanship.
For Robin, itās a continuation of a sixty-year family legacy. For Becchio, itās a love letter to a civilisation that inspires him deeply.
Stay tuned for live coverage from Milan Design Week 2026, spotlighting Arab designers shaping the scene.

A new design voice bridging Cairo & Milan, @abi_milancairo is set to participate in the 2026 edition of Salone del Mobile, marking a significant moment for the emerging brand within the global design scene.
The brand will be exhibiting as part of Salone Raritas, the newly introduced curatorial section dedicated to collectible & limited-edition design, taking place at Fiera Milano Rho from April 21 to 26, 2026
Founded between Cairo and Milan, Abi reinterprets Egyptian stoneāsourced from historic quarries in Aswanāinto contemporary design pieces that merge function with sculptural expression. Drawing from a legacy that spans over 4,000 years, the brand positions stone not as a decorative element, but as a timeless medium shaped by history and craftsmanship.
Behind the project is a multidisciplinary collaboration spanning design, fine art, and heritage expertise. The concept was first envisioned by designer @esse__bi in collaboration with @marmonil , one of Egyptās most established stone companies, alongside international partners including @brunfineart , @ps.creativeagency , & @nm3.xyz@milan.design.week@isaloniofficial

Opening today.
From April 16 to May 15, 2026, Brun Fine Art in Milan presents a unique dialogue between the works of Corrado Cagli and ABlās functional sculptures in Egyptian stone.
The symbol becomes a structure of thought, the sign breaks free from representation, matter transforms into memory.
Paintings and sculptures by Cagli ā from the 1950s to his renowned explorations of space and the fourth dimension ā engage with objects in Egyptian granite and marble, conceived as contemporary sculptural presences.
At the core of the project is the marble translation of āMask - Sioux Chiefā (1961), produced by Marmonil in a limited edition and authorized by the Archivio Corrado Cagli: from the fragility of cardboard to the millennial permanence of stone.
A dialogue between sign and matter, archetype and function, time and permanence.

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, @abi_milancairo presents a multi-layered path unfolding between Salone del Mobile.Milano and the city, spanning Salone Raritas, Brun Fine Art and Paris International.
Born from the dialogue between Marmonilās production expertise in Egypt and NM3ās creative direction in Milan, the project continues to shape a language rooted in material culture, formal research and contemporary sensibility.
At Salone Raritas, the core of the brandās presence, ABI presents a selection of new works alongside continuities from previous collections, building a dialogue across authors and generations. The narrative extends to Brun Fine Art with the exhibition āCagli and the Symbol. In the Material Contemporaneity of ABIā, opening the research to a broader cultural dimension.
The result is a coherent presence, where stone is understood as a living material, capable of carrying history while being reinterpreted through contemporary design.
