A short diffusion desk recording of Unfurling Ferns on the 70 loudspeaker (slightly smaller) BEAST system 🌱 Programme Notes: Ferns have a fossil record that dates them back to 383-393 million years ago. although genetically they have changed overtime, ferns have contributed to the environment for millennia. belonging both in the past and in the present, ferns are a constant voice within our forests and woodlands. Unfurling Ferns uses plant bioelectrical signals from a fern captured from a pocket scion, a sound device that registers deviations in this signal, allowing you to listen to the ancient fern voice. This piece was inspired by the process of a fern unravelling and unfurling, the becoming of a mature fern, and allowing the listener to imagine this process through sound and stereo diffusion. 🌱 #immersiveaudio #environment #electronic #sound #plant

Listening party of Toronto Sound Maps ~ Tonight 9pm (UK time) 🗺️ In March I joined a bunch of incredible musicians and sound folks on Toronto island for a @dyski.co Sound Maps residency at @gibraltarpointto . Led by the wonderful @tomwhitwell and Dion Star, we gathered to create and explore place based music making using the landscape, maps, field recording, modular synths (@musicthingmodular ), graphic scores and discussions as an invitation to collaborate, perform and improvise together as a site responsive collective. This evening, all our creations go live on Bandcamp (🔗 in bio) and you’re invited to listen with us at 9pm (UK time). The album is also available as a pay what you can download. All contributions go towards funding a free place on a future DYSKI residency. Group one of the artists taking part in Immersive Labs 2026. Nick Feldman, Audiovisual Artist Adam Martin, Audiovisual Artist Teddy Hunter, Electronic Musician & Immersive Audio Artist Milo Reinhardt, Audiovisual Artist Natalie Roe, Composer & Electronic Artist Over five intense and very fun days inside the dome at CULTVR in Cardiff, artists from Wales and Québec came together to experiment, collaborate and prototype new immersive audiovisual ideas. The week blended R&D, masterclasses and hands on experimentation inside the dome. Group one explored a mix of realtime visuals, immersive sound design and live performance approaches. Artists experimented with composing spatial audio, improvising with plant sounds through modular synthesisers, and developing immersive visuals in Unreal Engine. Immersive Labs is a co creation programme bringing together artists from Wales and Québec to develop new immersive work for fulldome environments. Presented by CULTVR Lab in Cardiff in collaboration with Société des Arts Technologiques, Montréal. @sat_montreal
