IT’S GOBLIN TIME!!!
So beyond excited to have this album FINALLY out in the world! It’s goofy ass instrumental music, and I love it so so so much.
Things I had in mind while putting the album together:
1) Making art is fucking rad
2) Birds are fucking rad
3) Being kind to yourself is fucking rad

+ @greenwayrecording_mpls has some killer folks in house. @moosehat_meyers is a wizard with recording and mixing, and @masteringthemaster did some absolutely terrific work mastering the album.
+ @thehuskydrummer is a drumset sorceror.
+ @dominicdomeyer is a scrappy trumpet player and I am blessed to be able to work with my family.
+ @_scribblistic took my half baked collection of inspiration and just knocked it out of the park with the album art.

The Strange Forest has been immortalized on film by @thair_thursday_art for Public Functionary’s Art During Strange Times screening.
Born during a season of strangeness, this 20-foot hand-illustrated crankie was my way of processing grief, courage and ego death. It tells the story of an explorer navigating migration, broken glass, and noodly-limbed monsters, choosing to show up for herself even when things look messy.
What started out as an interactive film box as part of my MFA thesis show evolved into a live performance exploring expanded animation while being part of the Crankie Festival 2024 and then Ice Shanty 2025 crankie cabin (thanks to Ollie and Pete). I’m so grateful for the friends who brought the whimsy and music to my storytelling. This crankie box was presented in multiple different forms, so it has come a long way!

Following our fear and courage is an active effort. This forest is still very much alive and is constantly growing into a multidimensional story arch so more crankies to come.
I ended 2025 illustrating this album art for @packingdhaka , an artwork that lands very close because this is first thing I made after a couple months of art block and burn out. I made this piece thinking about what it means to belong in one place; the layers of multicultural identity shaped by migration, building a home in unfamiliar spaces while staying grounded in roots. @saminalsabahahmed wrote this song, asking about who we really are and questioning why we really are, so I added my own experience while illustrating his song ✨
2025 really showed me who I am and what I’m made of, while having only brutally honest and loving people by my side that can embrace the paradox of life. People who know what it’s like to live through multiple deaths while choosing intentionally to spread love, care and notice the whimsical magic. This year stretched me thin, increasing my capacity to fearlessly become myself. It took me 28 years to truly love every part of me, resulting in a prolonged art block while I worked my way through the process of Artist Visa application. It’s like Zuko’s character arc from the last airbenders third season when he switched sides resulting in him losing his firebending temporarily. I learned to be patient with myself this year, embracing courage in many forms including disappointing others.
2025 also showed me that I can get so dangerously close to my dream but I have to constantly practice my courage every step of the way. I wasn’t able to manage my time properly while juggling so many projects that I was so proud to be a part of. I couldn’t deliver my own promises while being burnt out. So 2026, this year I will expand and create my capacity to hold all the promises I make to myself and I also forgive myself for not showing up for the things I said I will deliver. It’s 1st of Jan today and I’m spending it slowly and intentionally, in a completely different country that I used to call my home growing up. I rescued a bird and a cat today, but I realized I just showed up and changed their surrounding. There is no saving; there is only showing up. Showing up with love while being messy, happy, worn out, broken, devastated, ecstatic out of joy and sometimes yearning. I gained wisdom from Mother Nature and my failed experiences that lead me to where I am right now.
Thank you for reading this far and still being there with me through this journey. I love you all. ✨
I think blue has always been my favorite color because it is tenderness in long exposure at dusk,
and the breathe between one memory to the next,
the fragility, of water, of the distant sky, and the ability to look at something as if it might disappear any moment, and to be human.

Part 2 of our Cyanotype Party on July 19! In this video we share how to actually make Cyanotypes if you wanna do one yourself at home! So happy to have hosted our first event in such a great spot. What objects, stories or rituals do you carry with you to connect with memories, and relate to others? This exhibition features works by artists that are international residing in Minnesota, bringing their stories in one space.
I’m so happy my work Bon Bibi, the forest diety, is a part of this show alongside other amazing artists in this exhibit. This is the first mixed media work I made when I moved to Minneapolis, a work about harmony and interconnectedness through a mythological lens. I had a completely different plan with the work I wanted to showcase or create but plans changed due to circumstances, struggles and so many other factors but somehow I continued to push through alongside others and I guess that is the whole point, how we become resilient over time…
There will be a tour by the artists and the curator today followed by a dance performance by @rituparnarana .
