The event is celebrating AAPI, Photography Across Culture and Community. Andria is a commercial and editorial photographer, specializing in still life, food, and portraits. She was raised in Alaska and is now based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is interested in weaving together storytelling, cultural identity, observations of the everyday, and nostalgia into her work. Her collaborative project, Chinatown Pretty, @chinatownpretty celebrates the street style and stories of elders in historic Chinatowns across North America. She will present on these topics: Chinatown Pretty/ LNY still lifes/ Nostalgic food series and will also do a q&a to conclude the discussion. In the introduction to Ohana Style, @chefwonder describes the word “ohana” as “those who provide you with a sense of belonging, and to whom, in turn, you feel an obligation and a responsibility.” When you’re with Sheldon, there’s always an abundance of family, friends and good energy. We tried to capture that by photographing Sheldon and Janice’s family, along with close friends on Maui and the Big Island. Working in Hawai’i is always personal for me. I was born and raised in the Midwest, but have long and deep family history in Hawai’i, and a 95-year-old mother in Wisconsin who will always be a Hilo girl. We’re taking her home next week to reunite with her siblings, cousins and lots of ohana. Becky Sue is a prolific baker, food photographer, food stylist and recipe developer inspired by the laidback beauty and fresh produce of the West Coast. A former designer turned creative studio owner, she brings a strong design sensibility to her styling, baking and photography. What started as a break from screen time grew into a full-fledged passion, leading to the launch of her blog, Baking The Goods, in 2012—where she shares approachable, tried-and-true recipes with a creative twist.
