Woven in Season
A frame loom weaving workshop as a part of Woven Narratives at @thesloaneclub
The sun was out, spring flowers set the colour palette for the day. The rest just fell into place at the loom.
And no one really wanted to leave which made my day brighter!
First There Was a Dot
The beginning of everything.
This piece was donated to Mason & Fifth as part of the residency, a quiet offering rooted in the idea of the Bindu, the first point of energy, the seed of all creation.
Handwoven and hand dyed using reclaimed wool, corn husk, banana fibre, onion skins and avocado pits.

Yahvi is one of the artists selected for our residency in collaboration with @dazed club.
As a textile-based artist, her practice is rooted in the zero-waste traditions she grew up with in India. She works closely with local cafés and kitchens, transforming materials like banana peels, eggshells, and coffee grounds into handwoven pieces. Through this process, she explores themes of slowness, sustainability, and care.
At Meadow, Yahvi is developing a new body of work using kitchen waste collected from our on-site restaurant @canal.canal.canal - this is an ongoing experiment in material, memory, and craft. We can’t wait to see the outcome of her work during our upcoming exhibition.

Come by and discover the mindful craft of weaving at CDW’s Future Talent at The Charter House
Throughout the day, I along with @freeweaver_studio will be sharing live weaving demonstrations on very special Japanese Saori Looms and exploring how kitchen waste like banana peels, eggshells, coffee grounds, and other everyday leftovers can be transformed into woven materials and biomaterials through slow, thoughtful making.
There’ll be textures to touch, materials to explore, and conversations around sustainability, craft, and storytelling through textiles.
If you’re interested in hosting a workshop, collaborating, or simply curious about the process — come say hi ✨
Sunshine, bioyarns, weaving and so many lovely interactions at the Wakehurst Community Festival 🌿
People stopped by to make bio yarns, weave, leave little notes, share stories and spend a moment making together. My favourite part was watching people slowly become part of the same piece 💛
Thank you to everyone who added a thread to it all ✨

This is me working towards a complete zero waste process, using every part of the material.
This began with a turmeric dye bath made from collected peels. I used it to dye yarns, eco print, and then pushed it further by turning the leftover liquid into bio yarn. The final bit was blended with old printed paper and eggshells to make paper and clay.
Nothing was thrown away. Everything was used.

In this session, all the colours came from food waste. Peels, flowers, and everyday materials. I am trying to move away from using food colouring and bring the workshops closer to the way I work in the studio.
Made easier and a lot more fun with @dessdsouza around!

Meet Yahvi Duggal (@_peelstudio ), a textile artist who grew up in India where caring for materials was just part of daily life. Then, she turned everyday rituals into a practice transforming kitchen waste into the most beautiful naturally-dyed weavings.
But, she didn’t follow some perfectly mapped-out path to get here. It was curiosity and adaptability that led her to her craft.
In her Creative Lives, she shares how slowing down and noticing the potential in everyday materials completely changed the way she works. It might just change the way you see things too 🫶 Head to creativelivesinprogress.com to read the full interview
