Come celebrate the release of Water is a Shifting Mirror and ring in my birthday on March 13 at Allan Gardens Children’s Conservatory! I wrote this album in the cold spring months and so it feels especially right to share this work right before the solstice. Many of the field recordings from the album were taken in March - the most death coded month but always with the hope of something new - where the stillness of frozen waters transform into the rushing onslaught of melting snow. What a perfect time to hold, experience, and release. Honoured to have 2 of my faves play: @_emisiv - a huge influence to me - and @hi_hiroki_ to close out the night and get us shaking. @rafwilcot on guitar for my live set. His work blends memory and futurism, drawing on black music histories while shaping them through contemporary sound design. With releases on labels like earthNetwork and Aronia Records, Emissive crafts dreamlike atmospheres that move between experimental ambient and forward-thinking club textures, offering sets that feel both intimate and expansive. Erica's music is a counterpart to her visual arts practice. Currently, she’s focused on creating experimental compositions that blend the feeling of seeing a butterfly randomly or roaming girly liminal spaces on the internet. She’s deeply inspired by Caribbean and Afro-diasporic sound, wanting to make music people can dance, cry, cook, drive, or just lie down to — bringing together a noisy but soft overlay of genres. Aperçu is a Toronto-based producer and visual artist. His work spans across realms of ambient, plunderphonics, and left field club, combining them together into kinetic live sets that are both unpredictable and elemental. Pairing uncanny visuals and dissonant sound design, Aperçu explores themes such as online connection, digital apparitions, and the overwhelming speed and anxiety of modern life.
