All day into night we will be transforming the parking lot of Fab World into a multi-sensory wonder land for you to experience. Featuring a musical line-up that has a focus on dub, left-field bass, techno, and house. Join us as we push the boundaries of genre definitions to new limits. We will also be setting up interactive art installations, and Robb P will be keeping us warm with some home made hot apple cider. This is a Free event but donations are encouraged

I remember the first thing I did after finishing my final exams in grade 12 was come home and sneak away to my room to listen to James Blake’s new album the Colour in Anything (2016). It was thrilling. For months I had been listening to Blake’s Radio 1 Residency on BBC and had been hearing the singles come out on the airwaves for the very first time (tracks like Timeless, Radio Silence, etc). Listening to that album back to front for the first time was amazing because it felt like - through his radio show - I was with Blake in the months leading up to the album release date. Listening to the demos he put out - wondering if they would be skeletons of future songs to come. That’s why when the album hit, it hit all the harder.  Of course when I saw the chance to sign up for @anothersetting.radio I absolutely leaped at it. I went ahead and recorded a mix which will be airing today at 8 pm EST. It was only after in reflection over what to write in this caption that I remembered the influence of Blake’s radio shows on me. Maybe a part of me wants to recreate the electricity I sensed. More recently I’ve been listening to Ben UFO’s Rinse and Sub FM shows. Friends who know me well know that Ben UFO’s influence on me is very strong. It’s uncanny to reflect on how these people I’ve never met have left lasting impressions on me. But at the same time it feels entirely natural and truly me. The experience of fandom is an odd one. It’s like taking clothes from another person’s closet, knowing well that it’s someone else’s, yet feeling like they were made to fit me. It feels cheap and ‘too convenient’, but at the same time deeply meaningful and personality-forming. DJing frequently feels like that. I am very glad to be joining @anothersetting.radio alongside many amazing co-hosts! Expect a medley of dubstep, techno, and bass. Sundays bi-weekly. Breathing space… or lack thereof.

Two resident DJs, @_s_i__r__e__n_ and @hemlock.ab , square off for an extended b2b, each building off each other. And guest DJ @dun.a.way working his magic in home turf @nthenyou__ . Hamilton audiences will be familiar with @dun.a.way - cultural programmer and founder of Squat (formerly known as Places). On the dancefloor, Dunaway’s sound is not genre-specific but inspired by analog radio selector culture and his background as a “third culture” listener — traversing through sonic landscapes imbued with curiosity, esotericism, and quirky syncopation. It'll be our first time in the city of steel and we are lucky to be hosted by none other than underground music club @nthenyou__ . Our connection with Andthenyou has been months in the making.
