Some documentation of Flock 2.0, part of the exhibition with
@vernersoler running at
@casadangel in Lumnezia, Switzerland right now!
‘Flock’ (2026) borrows the ensemble format of a ‘herd’ from the local livestock of Lumnezia, contextualizing their bell bonks as a format for collective improvised composition. Human participants in Flock use an 88-key piano to trigger sounds from traditional Swiss livestock bells, with each interaction recorded and played back later. Sounds were created using extended percussion techniques (bows, a water bucket, spinning coins, etc), without the use of extensive editing or effects.
Big thanks to Colin Cudmore (
@dipshit_ass_420 ) who contributed his percussion expertise for some incredible sounds, Phillipe from
@swissclubto for lending me their big beautiful bells,
@leanderalbin who came in so clutch lending his keyboard for the exhibition & who graciously hosted our first visit to Lumnezia,
@margot_fab for encouraging us to apply to Residenza in the first place & supporting me throughout working on the piece, and Brennan, Colin, Cookie, Emma, Emerson, Sam, & Maddie for coming over and playing around with Flock before I sent it off. Last but not least, thanks to
@marculescoray for inviting me and setting up the show, I hope to make it back to Lumbrein to see the show before long! Video and photos by
