As this year’s Architecture Biennale drew to a close, USM Modular Furniture hosted a private evening for international leading figures across architecture, design, and contemporary culture inside the historic Magazzini del Sale. Conceived with We Are Ona, the dinner was entrusted to the Venetian curatorial platform Mare Karina for art direction and production, transforming one of Venice’s most storied spaces into a stage for design, cuisine, and exhibition history. Built in the early 15th century as warehouses for Venice’s salt trade, the Magazzini del Sale later evolved into a site of artistic and architectural experimentation. Well before the Arsenale became an official Biennale venue, these rooms hosted exhibitions that helped redefine the institution itself. In the mid-1970s, landmark projects such as Harald Szeemann’s “The Bachelor Machines” (1975) and “Europe-America, historic centre, suburbs” (1976) transformed the Magazzini into a laboratory for a new curatorial language. Notable guests included art, architecture, and design critic and former Biennale curator Aaron Betsky; architects Enric Ruiz Geli, Paul Cournet, and Bryan Young; interior designer Ilse Crawford; designers Sabine Marcelis, Marcin Rusak, Kevin Jones, and Armando Cabral; 6:AM co-founders Edoardo Pandolfo and Francesco Palù; chef Zélikha Dinga; the thing Magazine founder Anton Rahlwes; and 032c founders Joerg and Sandra Koch. This is Sala d'Armi G1 at Venice @labiennale Musica 2025. In the slides nights by @lorenzo_senni , @_darest and @lucyrailton . This space expressd the idea of La Stella Dentro probably the best. Rays from outter space, a prismatic spell, in a landscape of persian carpets - it evoked a cosmic yet intimate atmosphere. It was another great teamwork that made the dream work with @rubenspini , Caterina Barbieri @cat_barbieri and everyone from the @labiennale team. “Grani” is a site-responsive sound performance by Francesca Fabrizi, presented within “À Jour”, Simona Pavoni’s exhibition at Mare Karina, curated by Giulia Mariachiara Galiano and Costanza Longanesi Cattani. Fabrizi, winner of the Biennale Musica College 2025 and invited for this event by Galiano, is a Rome-based pianist and electroacoustic musician. After classical piano studies, she graduated in psychology and in electroacoustic composition; her work forges experimental sound worlds that blend electroacoustics, instrumental exploration, and the materiality of sound, at times intersecting with visual narratives. Drawn to thresholds and instability, she blurs discrete elements into landscape-like textures, playing between clarity and noise and probing listening and timbral perception.
