To me art is a vehicle, moving across many forms to personify feelings, highlight culture, experience, perspective, technique and ultimately bring visibility to parts of the human experience that aren’t simple to express.
My first experiences within spaces that exhibit art was challenged by my interest in art forms that weren’t always on display. It has been a lifelong joy to witness art across the globe that educates, expands on history, and proudly showcases parts of me; my upbringing, interests, style and effectively provides an insightful mirror to the textures, sounds and visuals that have been shaping me, and many others since our youth.
It has been quite the honor to be in proximity to a space whose core narrative is expanding on the many iterations of art, past and present, all while cultivating a sense of community in a gathering space that provokes conversation and inspires us to continue contributing to the pantheon that is human creativity.
It’s an ecosystem that I must tip my hat to
@dizgibraltar @ajayfresh @slausonandco for partnering and bringing
@contextprojects to life.
For the past few months the show exhibited
@contextprojects embodies all the aforementioned, furthering the vast scope and touch points that exist within the gallery. A brilliant personal collection sprawling with history, hip-hop, memorabilia and living breathing artifacts curated by
@enstrumental .
After supporting by liaising special visits, technical and experiential curation behind the scenes - I have the distinct pleasure to help close out the exhibit doing what I love most - playing music. I’ll be playing vinyl records from my personal collection, as well as pulling records that are featured in the show, Sunday 4-7p, and again on Monday 12-5p for a special set honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. Please join us, and toast with an expertly crafted wine offering by
