Big Sky, you were a good one. ❤️🔥
Back in February, the @_amigos4ever and @sideyard.studios crews headed to Missoula, MT for the beloved @bigskydocfest — a few bone-chillingly cold days filled with great films, thoughtful conversations, and the kind of energy only a festival can bring.
We were honored to screen in Shorts Block 11 alongside many docs, including a team favorite The Time My Grandmother Was Held Hostage by Bank Robbers (directed by @rosellatursi ) — a lineup full of inventive, thoughtful storytelling that made us very grateful to be in the room.
Outside of the screenings, we got to reconnect with familiar faces, meet countless new ones, and soak in a city that genuinely shows up wholeheartedly for storytelling. Montana in February is no joke, but the warmth of the Missoula community more than made up for the cold.
Thanks for having us @bigskydocfest 🐋🧨💙
🐋 One man. One whale. Twenty cases of dynamite.
OH WHALE revisits the infamous 1970 exploding whale incident in Florence, Oregon, through the eyes of news anchor Paul Linnman — the reporter whose unexpected assignment became one of the most legendary local news stories of all time. Funny, strange, and unexpectedly moving, the film reflects on fate, memory, and the stories that end up defining us.
Directed by filmmaker and cinematographer Winslow Crane-Murdoch, whose work has screened at Hot Docs and True/False and appeared on HBO and in The New Yorker.

There’s a certain calm that comes with working in post—the ability (and need) to stay grounded while everything else is in motion. For Patrick Lewis, our newest staff Senior Producer, that balance is at the core of how he approaches both work and life.
From growing up across the Atlanta, GA area to carving out a path through New York & Los Angeles, his journey into post-producing wasn’t exactly linear, but it was intentional. In this interview, he talks about finding his lane, the art of keeping steady under pressure, and why staying grounded might be the most underrated tool in the industry.
Spring is officially here, and we’re dusting off our hiking boots, sun hats, and road trip maps. This playlist was crafted with a calm spring walk in mind; the kind where the air still has a chill, but you can feel everything (including you) waking back up. Just a season changing–and you, changing with it. Link in bio. 🌿
There’s something special about getting everyone in the same room–the kind of energy you can’t replicate over email threads or Zoom calls. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting the team from @fieldunit here in PDX, bringing together collaborators, partners, friends, and significant others for a night that felt equal parts industry mixer and fun laid-back vibes.
Held at @collector.bar , the evening quickly took on a playful tone: Lucky Day as the “home” team, Los Angeles-based Field Unit as the “away” team. But any sense of heated rivalry stayed firmly tongue-in-cheek because this was less about competition and more about connection. A shared appreciation for the work (and the chaos that comes with it) made for easy conversation, whether folks were meeting for the first time or picking up right where they left off.
We’re grateful to Alec, Jay, and David from the Field Unit crew for making the trip north and to everyone who came out to be part of it. Until the next one, home or away.
Our newest staff AE might spend her days organizing footage, wrangling timelines, and making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes—but don’t mistake that for a quiet role.
We caught up with Cylie to talk about assistant editing, why the book is always better than the movie, and how The Hunger Games led her to become a state champion archer (yes, really). Read the full interview now!
We're excited to announce that @google Year In Search 2025 is @thewebbyawards nominated for "Best Short for Social Sideo." As if we had any doubt.
Yeah - we know you want to vote for us. Link in the bio.
