Squeezed every last drop out of the summer.
Dream tour around Basque Spain with two sweet lads. Bikes and friends are such a cool combo.
The more I think on it, the more I realize that life is about showing up and @joeyschusler and @brodyleven sure embody that energy. ✨really special.
They call her Flower Girl 🌺. Walking meditations along the Camino through Rioja for a few days with Mom. Conversations we never would get to have otherwise, silences that were never interrupted, our thoughts and time to be with them, nothing rushed, one step at a time. ✨❤️
Of Resilience and Hope, the name of the loop that my dad and I chose to do over the course of three days a couple of weeks ago. The bikepack was aptly named by it’s pioneer and author Ernesto @montanasvacias for his feelings about the people and this region of Spain he loves deeply.
I modified the route a bit so my dad could find places to charge his bike overnight and he and mom could be comfortable as she was meeting us every afternoon for dinner and exploring the little towns we were staying in. I was so impressed by him for saying yes to this adventure without much thought to it.
The route is so perfectly named and I thought about those words a lot in the hours of silence pedaling through the light winds of central Spain, surrounded by swaying wheat fields and over a thousand years of history you can’t fully appreciate or see if you’re speeding down the highway at 70 mph.
Resilience and Hope, two things I know I am in need of, as is our aching country and world. I have to keep believing we can all find a bit of both.
