Introducing “Interwoven: Everything Touches Everything Else,” our latest exhibition at Dernier Cri. This show considers the ways in which all things are connected. Threads—both literal and conceptual—run throughout, binding disparate forms into a cohesive whole. At a moment when our relationship to the natural world feels increasingly fragile, these works offer a reflection on interdependence, on the systems that sustain us and the delicate balance that connects all living things.
On view are wall sculptures by
@vanessabarragao_work , composed of recycled wool and recycled synthetic fibers; sculpture by
@windychien from her Crowns series, in which knotted, ribbon-like cordage forms a crisp, squared column that can be hand-manipulated to shift and settle into evocative shapes; wall sculpture by
@benjaminkapoorstudio that traces a continuum of material states, where metal, sand and painted surfaces register conditions of deformation; works from
@jonsara ’s Furniture Renovations series, where iconic designs are deconstructed and reimagined with homage to their original makers; assemblages by
@jaysylvesterart , woven from bittersweet, honeysuckle, and wisteria vines with bamboo and found materials; and wall sculptures by
@suzannetick , including pieces from her Mylar Balloons and Woven Wire Hangers series.
