Thank you to our friends @826la for hosting a storytelling workshop for our youth back in March! As a way to prepare for interviewing, we had some of our YLPs come in for a session on “The Truth is a Good Enough Story” led by Trevor and Julia. The youth warmed up with a writing exercise inspired by silly hats, and leaned into how to advocate through storytelling.
Want to know what they wrote? Catch their writing and storytelling projects on Wednesday, May 27th at @humanresourcesla from 4-8 PM! Our community members, families, and high school youth are invited to take part in the art, food, and activities we have prepared, for FREE!

We at Artists Against the Apocalypse are so glad to have been able to run this project inspired by the wonderful work being done at @826la ! 826LA is a 501c3 non-profit based in LA dedicated to bringing free creative writing programs to the youth of Los Angeles.
Over the past three months, our collective split into three groups, each picked a story that spoke to them, and created a beautiful collaborative piece directly inspired by that student’s work. In apocalyptic times, it’s more important than ever to uplift our future bestsellers.

Bloomberg Arts Internship in partnership with @LACountyArts . During their paid internship with 826LA, interns will be supporting our summer programming and working with Los Angeles students, skills that can be applied to higher education and any professional field of their choice.
