fire horse lamp // LNY 2026
fashionably late again, but created this little lamp for the lunar new year, featuring a beautiful fire horse animation by @velysebee cut into the lampshade, which really brings this whole piece to life!! 🫶
made with padauk, a mahogany dowel, some 3D printed parts, a ball bearing, red cardstock, and rice paper. inspired by Chinese papercut artwork and eadweard muybridge’s “the horse in motion.”

it was super fun getting out my gouache again and i'm excited to say the colors are just as vibrant in real life!! gauche my beloved
i'm still obsessed with this guy i drew with @dontons_trips a few months ago and i had to animate him,,
we created the original illustration by each drawing 3 lines and alternating until we had our finished little guy ! i animated him and got some more help picking out the colors :3

I've been having a great time helping with rough animation for @chimpanxanny.mp4 's upcoming project! It's been a while since I've done any lip sync but it's been surprisingly not awful.. fun even? Anyway, keep an eye out for more work from everyone on this project!

I thought I’d give a little BTS on each stage of the process! It’s been a hugely collaborative effort these past six months, and I can’t wait to share more.

Here comes the bride!
This sketch page is a colored version of one of many collaborative pieces created during trivia nights at my local board game shop. We each took a turn drawing three lines until we had our finished masterpiece. We didn't win many of our trivia nights, but we got some great art out of it!
