I thought I’d give a little BTS on each stage of the process! It’s been a hugely collaborative effort these past six months, and I can’t wait to share more.

I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I completed my senior thesis film, “NAIA”!! This was such a labor of love and discovery from start to finish. And of course, I really couldn’t have done it (done anything, really) with out the support of my friends and family, and of course, my amazing composer, @domi_kalajdzic who worked tirelessly on all the many iterations of the film’s soundtrack.
This was my first time collaborating with an artist that wasn’t also an animator, and it was a great experience! It really opened my eyes to the possibilities there are when you decide to branch out and let yourself experiment and be a little uncertain sometimes. Looking back, of course there are things that I might do differently now, but I really wouldn’t change a thing about any of it because of the lessons I learned along the way.

A fun exquisite corpse I organized with my friends based on a poem of the same name. Finished in August but I've been incredibly bad about posting lately. Oops.
It was really fun doing this with everyone and I really hope we can do something like this in the future :)

Lucia, Caz, and Vinny teamed up together to adapt this amazing story, “The Cookie Problem” by Jack S., into the illustrations you see here. 826LA is a creative writing non-profit bringing free writing education to kids all over LA. Through free programs like workshops, tutoring, and field trips, students find their voice, build confidence, and learn to express themselves creatively. Happy Holidays! I hope everyone had a good time celebrating and spending quality time with loved ones, getting a nice break before the new year!
I made this little coloring book/zine for Lucia, whose prompt for me was food rituals/traditions. There were a lot of fun ones to choose from, and one that didn’t quite make the cut was eating a hotdog on the Fourth of July. I realized that might just be more of a ‘me’ tradition… I also mailed Lucia a few copies of my zine in case they or any of their friends wanted to have a little coloring session just for fun. It was a great exercise to think about how our ‘food rituals’ are extensions of belief, of community values, and representations of our hopes and dreams. Nothing brings people together like a good meal!
Thank you to all the wonderful members of AAA for participating in this holiday exchange with me and for being such awesome friends of mine :) I can’t wait to see what we get up to in the new year! <3
