Yesterday, we were thrilled to dedicate the 4000 block of Greenmount Avenue as Tupac Shakur Way. This stands not only as a testament to Tupac’s legacy, impact, and his time in Baltimore as foundational to his artistic development, but also honors the continued commitment of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation to improving lives through financial resources, mental health services, advocacy, and community support. We were honored to plant a Peace Pole in Mullan Park, which we hope stands as a beacon in the community for refuge, connection, unity, and a reminder to live and let live. Long live the rose that grew from concrete.

We are happy and proud to announce that we've partnered with Baltimore City & Mayor Brandon Scott, The Baltimore Orioles, The Baltimore School For The Arts and several community partners for our Tupac Amaru Shakur Way Street Rededication and Peace Pole Planting, on May 8th 2026 at 10am. Followed by Set Shakur throwing the First Pitch at the Orioles game later that night at 6pm and 7:05 game starts --- The Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture and Entertainment (MOACE) will hold a rededication ceremony honoring the stretch of Greenmount Avenue where Afeni, Tupac, and Sekyiwa Shakur made their home. The ceremony will take place on the morning of Friday, May 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Mullan Park (4000 Old York Rd.) and is open to the public. The event will feature appearances by representatives from the Baltimore Orioles, and the planting of a Peace Pole, an initiative of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation. The Baltimore Mayor will speak at the ceremony alongside Sekyiwa Shakur, President of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, who will offer reflections on the family’s time in Baltimore. Originally born Alice Faye Williams, but then in 1968, at the age of 22 she choose to adopt the name Afeni Shakur. Afeni in Yoruba means 'lover of people' and Shakur in Arabic means 'thankful'.
