Join us in welcoming the artist Ziru Mo! “Where the Light Blooms” opens on First Friday, March 7th, from 5 to 7 PM.
Born and raised in China, Ziru Mo is a photographer and multi-disciplinary artist based in Northern California. Inspired by nature and surrealism, Ziru’s works are highly tied to their identity and the ethereal process of self-discovery.
“Where the Light Blooms” invites viewers into a world of transformation, beauty, and introspection. In this body of work, Ziru explores the connections between humanity, queer ecology, and nature through psychological landscapes and environmental portraits. Inspired by surrealist artists Lieko Shiga and Female Pentimento, Ziru uses light, shadow, and color to create an ethereal atmosphere, blurring the boundaries between the tangible and the metaphysical. Ziru’s creations illuminate how loss nurtures new growth. Light symbolizes hope while the butterfly, a recurring symbol of transformation, reflects how grief can become a portal to healing and self-discovery. This exhibition also highlights community growth and healing, especially during dark times. The work reflects a deeply personal yet universally resonant journey, inviting the audience to connect emotions through symbolism and visual expression.
We’re Taohua tea, a group comprised of Ziru and Olive (@ziru.mo and @ollolsen ) currently collaborating with Signa Plants in midtown! @signarareplants
We do intimate tea gatherings and ceremonies twice a month at Signa. If you’re curious for more about what we do, please check out our website in our bio or DM us!
We just had our trial run, where we invited close friends and family! Big thank you to all that could make it! We value your time and energy. (Thank you especially to @pupper.ccino for taking most of these photos)
Our next popup is on February 23rd. A few days before we’ll open up our RSVP page!
Till next time 🫶
Wow, thank you so much to everyone who attended the opening reception for my solo exhibition @walpublicmarketgallery “Where the Light Blooms.” This means the world to me.
This body of work represents three years of my artistic journey as I began building my life around Sacramento. A lot has happened during these years, but one thing that has remained constant is my passion for creating art and the incredible support I’ve received from the community.
I feel so lucky and grateful to have a chance to share my work with the world. Thank you @jazel.print for inviting me into this space. If you haven’t seen the exhibition yet, it will be up until March 28th. Love you all ❤️❤️❤️

Happy 1 year f-stop 📸🎞️
Beginning of last year I randomly responded to a story from Instagram mutual @panoramicnothings asked about queer/trans photo project then met up with a few strangers and we tagged along some photographer friends. And @fennbruns suggested we should submit to an art call in the Bay for a group show. Without knowing too much of each other’s work, we quickly put a proposal together. Although it didn’t move forward, we somehow start doing photo walk together, I somehow was able to ask them for help to install my solo exhibition, and we somehow all went on a trip together. We got a chance to exhibit some work together @timelessthrills , continue making work and supporting each others, even through 100 degrees heat and muddy rainy woods at night, and going to exhibit some work at @prismartspace in June 13th in case you haven’t heard me telling everyone about it.
I won’t stop talking about how truly special we are. How queerness and passion for photography somehow tied us together and making us not just a collective of radical artists in the Sacramento but also some friends we can cook and sleep on the floor and laughing my ass off. I will never be where I am now without everyone in this group. Thank you @curlylocks_@fennbruns@someonescloverkid@panoramicnothings@karose.c@rebellious_optimism . I am so excited for the show and the memories we can continue building together. I love u all ❤️

Rooted, a group show curated by Keyliana, poses the question “How can we channel ancestral practices into our artwork? in this day and age, what does channeling our ancestry creatively look like?”
To love is continuous. To be loved is permanent.
Love is humanity.

“Home Is What We Made Of”, a photo album and diary of me about“home”. Swipe to see a few of the images from the photo album.
This project started as a way to express my home sickness, where I was digging into family’s archival photos and printing them through alternative methods that some of them will fade away or have imperfect marks, to showcase my memory and connection with home is slowly becoming blurry. As I continued working on the project, I have new understanding of what is home meant to me. I realized that my home, my people, is here, and has always been here with me.
This project may not be the most polished project, but definitely a project that is experimental, valuable and speak to my heart.
This photo album will be shown along with other amazing artists @signarareplants this Saturday for the group photography exhibition, “Wide Open”.
