@cynthia_abila ‘s pant suit from Zinkata was my outfit of choice for the official launch of my darling Aunty Cecilia’s book, After the Guns Fell Silent — a deeply reflective anthology capturing voices, memories, and lessons from the Nigerian Civil War era.
A beautifully told account of survival, loss, displacement and resilience, drawn from un-told first-hand experiences.
A precept from the book:
“By sharing these memories, the book aims to fill gaps in our collective knowledge, foster empathy across communities, and encourage Nigerians to confront the past in order to better understand the present and the future.”
It was such an impactful evening - with book readings, clips from contributors and thoughtful reflections. Most importantly for me, it was a powerful reminder of how essential it is to preserve Nigeria’s history.

In between being there for my @chyo110 through all the different facets of planning her 50th, my choice of what to wear was unanimously @bridgetawosika
No hesitation.
It became my safe place amidst the many decisions to make. One that was, without question, a fail-safe choice.
At her studio, I slipped into this archival piece from 12 years ago and I knew it was “the one.” Minimal fuss, second-to-none craftsmanship and of course, the ease and familiarity of my relationship and history with @b_awosika and her pieces… it just felt right ❤️❤️
Watching Bridget take her time to perfect the fit..and gently update certain elements to feel more “now”, took me back to the good old days when I often hung out at her studio… watching her create genius pieces amidst so much laughter and in between trying to wheedle and pull looks for a photoshoot 😜
She has always treated her garments like gold, according them so much care, love and attention.
I felt regal in this dress all through the event and I’m so glad I made this choice ❤️❤️
I didn’t just wear a BA dress
I stepped into history.
A piece that carries memory, sustainability, art and love. It was an emotional journey, to say the least.
