WOVEN THREADS VII: “CRAFTED” 9TH – 12TH APRIL, 2026 Venue: 274A Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island Facilitated by Verde by Cadwell (@verdebycadwell ) — Curated by Sunny Dolat Co-Founder, The Nest Collective Cultural Producer & Creative Director, Nairobi — This edition of Woven Threads centres craft as method, process, and system, focusing on how materials are understood, and how production is sustained within a circular framework. The physical presentations and installations feature designers and practitioners working across textiles, material innovation, and form. CRAFTED expands into a programme of talks, workshops, and live demonstrations, including sessions on upcycling and reconstruction, conversations with the curator, and panel discussions on circularity, material futures, and responsible production. Live demonstrations present weaving, macramé, and adaptive reuse in practice. Through these approaches, CRAFTED addresses waste by extending material life, encouraging reuse, and rethinking how fashion is produced and consumed. It brings together designers, makers, and cultural producers to engage with fashion as a system shaped by material, labour, and community. IRAPADA launches as a SHF and Bestseller Foundation research supported by LAWMA, examining waste within Lagos’ fashion ecosystem. The initiative works with selected designers to transform pre- and post-consumer waste into new collections, while introducing systems for waste tracking, documentation, and responsible material use. Woven Threads VII is an initiative of Style House Files and Lagos Fashion Week. Woven Threads VII is Open to the public from 10th – 12th April 2026 At 274A Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island. Backstage with WOTE KI (@kokrobitey.institute ) The collection presented at Woven Threads VII: CRAFTED explored texture, reconstruction, and fluid form. Open-knit surfaces, layered fabrics, and distressed detailing gave each look a strong sense of process and material experimentation. Colour moved between earth tones, black, cream, and saturated yellow, while handcrafted accessories and woven elements extended the visual language of the collection. Each piece felt tactile, expressive, and intentionally undone.

IRAPADA A more circular future for Lagos begins with what we already have. This excerpt from IRAPADA examines the movement of textile waste across the city and the decisions that shape its lifecycle. It asks what happens when clothing is treated as material with continued value, rather than something disposable. Old garments do not need to end in landfill. They can be repaired, reused, repurposed, exchanged, reconstructed, or reintroduced into new systems of production and use. The shift begins with how we design, how we consume, and how we extend the life of materials already in circulation. The conversation around textile waste is not only about disposal. It is about responsibility across the full chain, from production to post-use. Click the link in bio to watch the full video on IRAPADA 💫💫

Woven Threads VII: CRAFTED Revisiting Day 3 of Woven Threads VII: CRAFTED. The conversations brought together founders, practitioners, researchers, and ecosystem leaders working across different parts of the fashion industry. The sessions examined how sustainability moves beyond language into structure, responsibility, and long-term practice. Discussions focused on circularity, material systems, responsible production, and the realities of building sustainable fashion ecosystems across Africa. Speakers unpacked the gaps, tensions, and possibilities shaping the industry today, while questioning how fashion can operate with greater accountability across sourcing, production, labour, and consumption. The conversations also explored the role of collaboration, shared knowledge, and collective action in building systems that support both people and materials more responsibly.

Woven Threads VII: CRAFTED Exhibition spotlight: Pepperrow (@pepperrow ) Garments shaped through contrast and surface manipulation. Structured silhouettes sit beside softer draped forms, while hand-finished detailing introduces tension between precision and irregularity. Fabric is treated as both material and canvas. Pattern and texture carry the collection forward. Beaded embroidery, raffia-like extensions, resist-dyed textiles, and woven stripes build layered surfaces across each look. Nothing sits flat. Every element pushes movement, depth, and tactility. Adornment remains central to the work. Sculptural metal hardware, exaggerated forms, and sharp cut-outs interrupt otherwise fluid garments, creating moments of weight and interruption within the collection.

Backstage with Pettre Taylor (@pettretaylor ) The collection presented on the Woven Threads VII: CRAFTED runway moved between texture, layering, and ornamentation. Loose silhouettes sat alongside more sculpted forms, creating contrast across the looks while keeping a strong sense of fluidity throughout the collection. Surface treatment carried much of the detail. Crushed fabrics, crochet elements, woven textures, and patterned layering introduced depth without overwhelming the garments. Colour shifted between earthy neutrals and saturated blues, with each look holding its own distinct rhythm. Accessories extended the visual language of the collection. Head wraps, jewellery, embellished footwear, and handcrafted bags added dimension, grounding the looks in materiality and craft.

Woven Threads VII: CRAFTED Backstage getting ready with Hertunba (@hertunba ) Final moments before the runway. Looks came together through small, precise adjustments. Styling, fittings, and finishing touches shaped how each piece would be seen in motion. The garments held strong structure. Corseted forms, defined seams, and controlled silhouettes directed the body and posture. Striped textiles introduced rhythm, with colour placed to emphasise line and form.

Woven Threads VII: CRAFTED Revisiting the ReWork Lab with @tuntunre The session focused on material reuse as a way of thinking and working. It broke down how existing textiles move through reconstruction and adaptation, and how value is reassigned through deliberate decisions. Temilade Salami led a live walkthrough of the process. She unpacked each stage clearly, showing how garments evolve from what already exists, and what guides those choices. Participants engaged through observation and dialogue. They followed the transformation step by step, asked questions, and built a clearer understanding of the system behind the work.
