During the war, my mother would pray, “God, please keep us safe so we can live to tell these stories.”
Fifty-six years after the guns fell silent, the memories are still with us: some painful, some revealing, a few unexpectedly tender.
This is me honouring my mother’s answered prayer. Giving voice to the fear we swallowed, the strength we didn’t know we had, the moments that lingered long after the noise faded and the event that shaped a people.
This is not history from a distance.
This is not hearsay from tales and stories.
This is an eyewitness account. This is our lived experience.
And this is me finally telling the story After the Guns Fell Silent.

Breaking barriers and building bridges.
Last week, I stepped into the role of Chairman of The Petroleum Club Lagos. But this moment is bigger than me, it’s about what we, as an industry and a community, can achieve together.
At a time when sustainability and innovation are reshaping the energy landscape, we must also focus on the people who will define the future of our sector. By fostering mentorship, inclusivity, and knowledge transfer, I am committed to ensuring that our accomplishments today become the foundation for tomorrow’s progress.
Let’s work together to build a legacy of sustainability, innovation, and generational collaboration, one that reflects the best of where we’ve been and the promise of where we’re going.
The journey ahead is ours to shape, and I couldn’t be more honored to lead it.

I am delighted to share that I have been appointed the Chairman, Board of Directors, Trennco Towers and Steel, a subsidiary of Trennco Power Ltd @trenncopower . Exciting times ahead as we establish groundbreaking revolutions in the power sector in Nigeria.
I definitely look forward to working with the inspirational founder and Managing Director/CEO Catherine Ashenuga-Farrer @cathyfarrer100 and the dynamic TTS Board of Directors as we bring a paradigm shift to the power supply chain.
Together, lets enhance Nigeria’s energy landscape! 🇳🇬

A week ago in Houston, I received the WomENERGY Africa Entrepreneurial Excellence, Industry Resilience & Gender Empowerment Award, and since then, one thing has stayed on my mind: this is not a finish line, what comes next?
The conversations that evening were bigger than recognition. They were about scale, access, partnerships, and the future of women-led energy enterprises across Africa. We cannot continue to speak about inclusion while capital, influence, and opportunity remain concentrated in the same places. The next phase requires intentional collaboration, stronger ecosystems, and women bold enough to move from participating in the conversation to shaping it.
What encouraged me most was being in a room full of leaders from across the world who understand that resilience alone is not the goal anymore. Sustainability, expansion, ownership, and legacy are. We are building businesses, driving policy conversations, creating jobs, and redefining what leadership in the energy sector looks like across the continent and the world.
I am grateful to WomENERGY Africa, Africa Energy Futures, my fellow panelists, partners, and every woman committed to pushing this work forward. The momentum is growing, and so is the responsibility to build structures that outlive us.
The work continues.
And to God, always, thank You for grace for every season.

A week ago, I hosted friends, family, colleagues, and a community of people who mean so much to me, as we presented After the Guns Fell Silent.
It was a deeply moving experience.
For many, it was their first time engaging with the book, and the feedback has been humbling. Some saw their own stories reflected in its pages, having lived through the Nigerian Civil War. Others connected through memories handed down across generations. And for a number of people, it offered a new lens, bringing understanding to what once felt distant and abstract.
That, for me, is the purpose of this work.
To everyone who showed up, supported, contributed, and shared in that moment, thank you. Your presence meant more than words can fully express.
As the book now makes its way into more hands, my hope is that it does more than tell a story. I hope it stirs reflection, deepens understanding, and leaves you with something lasting.
After the Guns Fell Silent is now available.

I’m deeply honoured to be featured in the Energy Woman Hall of Fame as part of the 31 Women, 31 Days, 31 Stories of Power and Purpose initiative by the @nbaylfofficial Energy and Sustainability Committee.
I receive this recognition with gratitude and humility, especially knowing it reflects not just my journey, but the collective work of many remarkable women who continue to shape the energy and sustainability space with excellence and purpose. I am proud to stand alongside such inspiring leaders.
Recognition like this is also a reminder that progress is built together, through mentorship, collaboration, and the willingness to create opportunities for those coming behind us.
Congratulations to all the incredible women featured, and my sincere thanks to the organizers for this thoughtful honour.

Arese has a way of taking serious conversations and making them feel real, relatable, and easy to digest. She did it with Smart Money Woman, and now she’s doing it again with the @womenunlimitedpodcast .
In one of the episode's, she hosted Nkemdilim Uwaje Begho, who spoke so thoughtfully about boardrooms and the responsibility that comes with sitting at those tables, something I deeply relate to. But that’s not the story for today.
Listening to how clearly and confidently Nkemdilim spoke, and then seeing news of inspiring female board appointments, Nnoli Akpedeye’s appointment to the Board of Aradel Holdings, Ifeyinwa Osime’s appointment as Chairman of Access Bank and Amaka Onwughalu as Chairman of Fidelity Bank reminded me of my word for this year: Dream.
It’s a new month, and if somewhere along the way you’ve stopped dreaming, this is your reminder to start again.
Those dreams are valid. Those rooms exist. And yes, those spaces are available for taking.
Here’s to a new month and to more women daring to dream bigger and step forward boldly
Happy New Year!!
As we step into a brand-new year, one word stands tall above all others: Dream.
Dreams of new places to see, new milestones to reach, new homes to own, new businesses to grow, and new freedoms to enjoy. This year, I want you to feel confident not just in your dreams, but in the fact that you are capable enough to bring them to life.
Do not allow circumstances, fear, or the limits of what you have seen before to define how far you think you can go.
Make 2026 a year of bold vision, deeper impact, and limitless possibilities. Spread your wings, soar without doubt, fly without fear, dream without borders, and step out in faith into new spaces.
May this be a year where we dare greatly, act intentionally, and build the future we truly want to see.
Last week, I had the great privilege of hosting my highly esteemed colleagues and members of The Petroleum Club at our Quarterly Dinner.
We reflected on “Taxes and the Rebirth of the Nigerian Petroleum Industry” with insights shared by Dr. Zacch Adelabu Adedeji, Executive Chairman of FIRS — ably represented by Alhaji Shetima Tamadi.
It was an evening of thoughtful dialogue, honest questions, and renewed commitment to shaping the future of our industry. Special thanks to @firsteandp for sponsoring and to everyone who made the night truly memorable. 💙
