News of SeoulTech_New Media Design Lab Exhibition <New Media Design Experiments: Mediated Things> Exhibition Overview 디자인은 오래도록 ”만드는 일“로 정의되어 왔다. 형태를 결정하고, 기능을 부여하고, 사용자에게 전달하는 일. 그러나 이 전시는 그 정의의 바깥에서 시작한다. 이 전시에 모인 작업들은 묻는다 : 디자인이 사물을 완성하는 것이 아니라 관계를 시작하는 것이라면 어떻게 되는가. 뉴미디어 아트, 인터랙션, UX의 교차점에서, 디자인이라는 행위 자체를 실험의 대상으로 놓는다. Design has long been defined as ”the act of making“ determining form, assigning function, delivering to the user. This exhibition begins outside that definition. The works gathered here ask: what if design is not about completing things, but about starting relationships? At the intersection of new media art, interaction, and UX, the act of design itself becomes the subject of experimentation. <Robotic system : AI X Manufacturing (반도체 웨이퍼 검사 장비 로봇)> MWC 2026 version Venue: Fira Gran Via, Barcelona Hall: Hall 3 (center of the hall) Period: March 2–5, 2026 한국어 (유)매드제너레이터는 스페인 바르셀로나에서 개최된 MWC Barcelona 2026에 참가하여, SK텔레콤 부스에서 ‘AI X Manufacturing: 반도체 웨이퍼 검사 장비 로봇’ 을 구현하였습니다. 본 프로젝트는 초정밀 반도체 웨이퍼 검사 및 스크리닝 공정을 협동형 로봇암과 AI 기술과 결합하여, 모션 디자인의 관점에서 무결점 제조를 위한 차세대 스마트 팩토리 퍼포먼스 시스템으로 새롭게 재해석한 것입니다. MWC 2026 출품을 위해 하드웨어 및 로봇 세팅을 새롭게 재구성하고 콘텐츠 비주얼을 전면 업데이트하여, 글로벌 관람객을 대상으로 AI 기반 자동화 제조 공정의 비전을 한층 몰입감 있는 시각적 경험으로 선보였습니다. English MADGENERATOR LLC participated in MWC Barcelona 2026, implementing ‘AI X Manufacturing – Semiconductor Wafer Inspection Robot’ at the SK Telecom booth. This project combines ultra-precision semiconductor wafer inspection and screening processes with collaborative robotic arms and AI technologies, newly reinterpreted from a motion design perspective as a next-generation smart factory performance system for zero-defect manufacturing. 2026 iF Design Award Winner – Interior Architecture / Installations Vision Contents - Public Installation (유)매드제너레이터는 현대자동차 E-GMP 전기차 플랫폼을 로보틱 퍼포먼스로 재해석한 설치 작품 「Vision Contents」로 2026 iF 디자인 어워드(Interior Architecture / Installations 부문)를 수상했습니다. 서울 강남 ‘현대자동차그룹 UX 스튜디오 서울’에 구현된 이 작업은 산업용 로봇암과 실제 EV 부품의 정밀한 움직임을 통해 자동차 생산 공정을 기계적 안무로 경험하게 합니다. 매드제너레이터는 디지털 렌더링이 아닌 실제 기계와 공정의 리듬을 전면에 내세워 현대자동차의 전동화 비전과 생산 미학을 드러내고자 했으며, 이번 수상은 예술·로보틱스·산업 디자인을 넘나드는 우리의 실험이 국제적으로 인정받은 결과입니다. MADGENERATOR.LLC received the 2026 iF DESIGN AWARD in the Interior Architecture / Installations category for “Vision Contents,” a robotic performance that reinterprets Hyundai Motor’s E-GMP EV platform. Installed at “Hyundai Motor Group UX Studio Seoul” in Gangnam, the work uses industrial robotic arms and real EV components to transform automotive manufacturing processes into a precise piece of mechanical choreography. News about My Artwork <사물시고 (四物時考) / 4 Studies in Material Times> 사물시고 (四物時考) / 4 Studies in Material Times Deep learning frameworks, Image DB, text source, generative sound 1ch(4ch archive), stereo, 9’10”(avg. 2’00” each), 4K, 30fps 2025 이 작업은 목재·섬유·진흙·유리가 K-pop 언어로 자신의 분자적 정체성을 노래하는 AI 뮤직비디오이다. 전통 공예 워크샵 아카이브를 머신러닝으로 변환하여, 침묵하던 물질들이 1인칭 화자가 되어 자신의 물리화학적 변형 과정을 서사화한다. 보코더 사운드와 생성 이미지가 만드는 포스트-디지털 미학 속에서, 전통 공예의 촉각적 지식과 알고리즘의 계산적 창의성이 충돌한다. 지질학적 시간과 팝 문화, 물질과 데이터가 순환하며 새로운 물질성을 제안한다. AI-generated music videos where wood, fiber, clay, and glass sing their molecular identities in K-pop language. Traditional craft workshop archives are transformed through machine learning, giving voice to silent materials as they narrate their physicochemical transformations in first-person. Through vocoder sounds and generated imagery creating post-digital aesthetics, tactile craft knowledge collides with algorithmic creativity. This is a work I made 3 years ago that has finally seen the light of day. - Generative poetic nature_Walden Pond Deep learning frameworks(Disco Diffusion V4-5, interpolation software), text DB 1ch video, 2‘30“, 2688x896, 60fps 2022 이 작업은 헨리 데이비드 소로의 ’월든‘을 바탕으로 GPT-2,3로 생성된 문장을 텍스트 프롬프트 삼아 Disco Diffusion V4-5를 통해 제작한 영상 시(Video Poetry)이다. 인공지능의 다양한 학습이 복합적으로 작용하여 각 문장을 근간으로 생성적 결과를 도출하며, 20세기 클로드 모네 등 인상파 화가들의 화풍으로 구현되었다. 과거의 문장이 현대 기술 기반의 영상으로 재해석되는 제2저작물로서, 타 주체를 통한 생성적 결과는 자연과 함께하는 무소유의 삶을 바란 소로의 사상에 대한 오마주이다. This work is a video poetry created through Disco Diffusion V4, using sentences generated by GPT-2 and GPT-3 based on Henry David Thoreau’s ”Walden“ as text prompts. Various AI deep learning processes work in complex ways to produce generative results grounded in each sentence, rendered in the style of 19th-century Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet. News about My New Artwork <무인회사 : 달콤한 말/ Unmanned Company : Sweet Talks> 무인회사 : 달콤한 말/ Unmanned Company : Sweet Talks Deep learning frameworks(custom SLM, approx. 40 models), conveyor, box, tape, tablet or display Multi-channel video(approx. 5 min, 30fps, 4K), dimensions variable 2025 이 프로젝트는 물류센터의 컨베이어 시스템을 활용한 미디어 설치 작품이다. 자율 개폐되는 박스들이 궤도를 순환하며, 내장된 디스플레이와 스피커를 통해 AI가 생성한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 전달한다. 각 언어별 오픈소스 소버린 AI는 전 세계 10여 개국의 미신과 믿음을 수집·분석하여, 뉴스, 광고, 뮤직비디오, 다큐멘터리 등 다양한 대중매체 형식으로 재구성한다. 동일한 믿음이 매체를 거치며 변형되는 과정을 통해, 정보의 재맥락화와 미디어 소비의 반복 패턴을 드러낸다. 무인 시스템의 자율적 작동은 인간 개입 없이 의미가 생산·순환되는 포스트휴먼 미디어 생태계를 예시하며, 자동화가 인간의 비합리적 욕망을 새로운 기술적 형식으로 재생산하는 아이러니를 보여준다. This project is a media installation utilizing a logistics conveyor system. Autonomously opening and closing boxes circulate on a track, delivering AI-generated multimedia content through embedded displays and speakers. Each language-specific open-source sovereign AI collects and analyzes superstitions and beliefs from approximately ten cultural regions worldwide, reconstructing them into various mass media formats including news, advertisements, music videos, and documentaries. News about My New Artwork <기획향(機劃香)/ The Mechanical Scent of Strokes> 기획향(機劃香)/ The Mechanical Scent of Strokes Robot arm, pc, display, dawless equipment, brush, deep learning frameworks(sora, veo, mj7, suno, udio, etc) dimension variable(Ø200x180cm), multi-ch, 30fps, 4k 2025 이 프로젝트는 협동형 로봇암이 붓으로 키보드와 패드를 누르며 생성 AI로 산출된 값을 호출하는 역전된 인터페이스를 통해 ‘쓰기’를 재구성한다. 로봇의 정밀한 반복과 인간 필기의 노이즈가 공명하는 지점에서, 문자도를 바탕으로 AI는 한글 신문 말뭉치를 활용해 타이포그래피를 생성하고 연관 이미지를 알고리즘으로 변형하여 ‘신조어’를 도출하여 세 개의 모니터와 사운드로 출력한다. 기계와 인간, 전통과 기술이 교차하는 이 문자 체계는 읽히는 것을 넘어 반응하고 상호작용하는 ‘상태’가 된다. This project reconstructs “writing” through an inverted interface where a collaborative robotic arm presses keyboards and pads with a brush to invoke values generated by AI. At the intersection where robotic precision resonates with human handwriting’s noise, the AI—motivated by munjado and utilizing Korean newspaper corpora—generates typography, algorithmically transforms associated images to derive “neologisms,” and outputs them across three monitors with sound. This project is a next-generation smart factory performance system that combines ultra-precision semiconductor wafer inspection and screening processes with technologies such as collaborative robotic arms and machine-learning based AI, newly reinterpreted from a motion design perspective for zero-defect manufacturing. Through this innovative system, visitors can experience AI-driven automated wafer defect inspection and chemical screening processes as an intuitive and immersive visual experience, and vividly experience cutting-edge AI technology and the vision for future industrial manufacturing processes.
