this balloon is right outside of my window and i look at it every single day and i watch it through the seasons and it has been there almost as long as i’ve lived in this apartment. it shows little to no signs of fading and it has somehow become an ethereal anchor for me. 🎈
this short audio clip is from my performance at @stereomandrax (thanks again @roboto_d_mayson and @joefrivaldi for booking me) and this set was just a day after i wrote this song.
now that i’ve played the song more i think maybe its not about what i’m verbally saying but… it’s maybe really about this balloon because no matter what time of year or weather or political upheavals or how late i get out of bed…. it is just right there continuing its airy / but tethered / dance.
i’ll likely perform this song again on monday may 4 at @sleepwalk.nyc — hope to see you there!

on the last day of 2025, i want to remember the person i was when i wrote this kinda sad song ~6 months ago. at that point i hadn’t recorded any music yet, hadn’t played a show in 5+ years, hadn’t designed merchandise/album covers/show fliers, and i hadn’t even started talking about making music yet except to some of my closest friends. thanks to all of people who supported me this year and who helped me make things i’m starting to be truly proud of 💌

i’m not sure why exactly it makes sense now to release this demo i recorded nearly three years ago, but this vignette from the short film 3𝙧𝙙 𝘼𝙑𝙀. 𝙀𝙇 (1955) lined up so perfectly with the track and revealed a hidden story i hadn’t found yet in the karen dalton’s “something on your mind”…. so i felt like it was kismet and i had to !!
