Philadelphia Ink & Dagger Halloween, complete! Didnāt take any pics at the show ācause I was too busy embarrassing myself up front. @mpberdan singing Philapsychosis...incredible. Seeing my old friend Erik read passages from the book he wrote about Sean McCabe and Ink & Dagger was so awesome. Itās coming out with the box set. You donāt know what youāve got till itās gone. Thatās how I felt about Sean, this band, and growing up at shows in ā90s Philadelphia. Erik described theirs and Phillyās spirit back then perfectly- love, chaos and everything in between.
Going back to the First Unitarian, seeing a new generation of R5 working the door, and running into old friends who were staples at shows back then felt like a dream. Hearing from friends in other countries over this whole thing was unreal. Huge thanks to every single person that contributed to making this all come āļøš¤

These are just a few of my favorite performance shots and from Basilica Soundscape a few weeks ago featuring: Ho99o9, Deafheaven, Billy Woods, Maria Somerville, Fckers, YATTA, Sigrid Lauren & Katelyn Reece Farstad, Sloppy Jane and Vines- And a portrait of the brains behind it all.
It was my 10th year photographing Basilica Soundscape a few weeks ago and the offical 10 year anniversary of itās inception. Itās been such a trip to shoot this weekend of music, reading and art expand each year, to capture friends kids grow from toddlers into teenagers and to see many of the same people working behind the scenes year after year to all make this work. I feel incredibly lucky to document it.

Shooting Black Sabbath when they reunited in 2013 meant everything to me. My mom and dad didnāt know each other yet but it was their first concert as teenagers. They were a staple in my house and in my life. Iām from a working class family and had a learning disability. Thank god I found something I was good at. Ozzy was an inspiration to me and millions of others. What a fantastic, singular life for a dyslexic guy from a working class England. Ok, Iāll stop now but Iād be lying if I told you I didnāt cry yesterday like a fucking psycho.
āREMAINS: COMPOUNDā curated by Matthew Barney and Brandon Stosuy in collaboration with Brian Jungen, Raven Chacon, Kelly Moran, and Jake Stosuy.
Musician Kelly Moran performed on piano and assisted Jake Stosuy in another room as he shot clay pigeons against wall and created drawings. Artist, Brian Jungen led a group of four archers to shoot approximately 143 arrows into the piano while musician and composer, Raven Chacon processed LIVE sounds from both spaces.

I hadnāt seen John in many years but weād keep in touch through here every so often. He was always so kind and supportive. Iād look at his paintings mystified and think āI canāt believe I know someone this talented.ā I guess Iāve been in shock and a bit of denial since @goghtohell called to give me the news. I wasnāt able to have a good cry about it until @bradjennings666 texted this morning. I had so much fun hanging out on the floor he and Montuori had their studios on and goofing around at band practice for the one second I was in Cocaine & Abel with him and the boys. I had no idea what I was doing and had stage fright but they included me anyway. There are so many people that were closer to him, people that I love, and my heart is going out to all of them.
@tvontheradio played the final night of their residency at Webster Hall on Saturday 11/30 in honor of the 20th anniversary of Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes. Bartees Strange opened for them with a gorgeous solo set. (Iāve been listening to his new single on repeat.)

My favorite photo from shooting TV on the Radio performing the final show of their week-long residency at Webster Hall, NYC, on Saturday 11/30. Full gallery coming tomorrow.
Iām gonna be emotional for a minute⦠I moved to Brooklyn 23 years ago as a photo student and would go to The Verb Cafe to do my homework. The person working there did me a kindness; he brought over me a piece of pie when I was having a bad day. That person was Kyp. He was one of the first people I met here. Nothing feels so wonderful as watching someone accomplish what they set out to do and then be blown away by what they create with others and watch them grow. Weād run into each other over the years, and he remained the same thoughtful person Iād first met.

I asked him to shoot this show and then talked myself out of it. I was out of practice shooting concerts. Had a new camera that I wasnāt as familiar with. I didnāt want to fail. He didnāt forget, though, and came through for me. Iām grateful that he didnāt because I got in touch with a part of my heart I hadnāt felt in a long time. 23 years of random acts of kindness⦠Thank you @luvandoverstanding š
