OUR TURN has come to a close—and what a journey it’s been! Over the four months (Sept 2025 - Jan 2026), Bradford’s visual arts scene has been front and centre. OUR TURN showcased 135 artists, 14 new commissions, 12 exhibitions across the district, and 15 events connecting with new audiences. This festival has been powered by the amazing creative people of Bradford. Thank you to every artist, partner, visitor, and collaborator who helped make it happen—we’re so grateful for the energy, ideas, and generosity you brought to OUR TURN. We are now looking at what’s next, and how we keep supporting artists and creative communities across Bradford, and aim to bring OUR TURN back for round two in 2027! OUR TURN was delivered by South Square in collaboration with Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, Yorkshire Contemporary and Bradford Producing Hub. The festival was supported by Arts Council England, Yorkshire Visual Arts Network and commissioned by Bradford 2025. @bradford_2025 @yorkshirecontemporary @bdproducinghub @aceagrams @yvanetwork #SouthSquareCentre #Bradford #OURTURN #Bradford2025 #BD25

It was a fantastic evening and so inspiring to bring together creatives from across Yorkshire & Humber in one space. We were especially pleased to welcome people from a wide range of programmes YVAN has been involved with over the years, including UNBOUND and Beyond the Mainstream. It was also brilliant to hear from our seven speakers, who shared valuable insights into what’s happening across the sector right now. Our next gathering will be on Zoom on Wednesday 3rd June 2026 (free to attend, Eventbrite link in bio). We’d love for you to join us and be part of the network!

Introducing another of our speakers at our BEYOND event coming up in less than a month in York! RSVP to join us for free through the link in bio!✨ We’re thrilled to have Aracelly Firmo, Theatre-Maker and Artist, join us on 2nd April to tell us about two York-based organizations, Theatre of Connections and Story of the Changing. From Aracelly: I am a Global Majority Artivist working at the intersection of creativity, collective healing, and social change. My work is grounded in theatre that reconnects, using performance and its processes as tools for dialogue, healing, and collective reflection. Through participatory theatre, storytelling, and collaborative creation, I engage communities in conversations around justice, identity, and liberation. My practice centres theatre as a way to restore connections with self, community, and nature, using eco-embodied methods to address personal and collective challenges. Through storytelling and movement, I facilitate processes of transformation, creating spaces where people can reconnect with their bodies, their stories, and the living world around them. Rooted in activism and artistry, my work understands art as action: a living force that connects, challenges, and inspires, opening pathways toward meaningful transformation and, therefore, liberation. @aracelly_firmo__
