The circular fashion conference happened in Leeds this week, set up by @circularfashionincubator . A great place to be inspired by a thoughtful community of designers, educators and artists.
I exhibited a small collection: a madder root naturally dyed pair of shorts with 3d fungi embroidery, a turmeric and onion skin dyed embroidery and machine stitched secondhand denim.

Textile bird play resource inspired by 'Bird' a bronze sculpture by Elisabeth Frink, Image 2 is from Frink's exhibition 'Natural connection' @yspsculpture . See the exhibition before it closes on 23rd March this month.
Frink's work connects nature, presenting the spirit of animals and humans and how they connect. The space feels calming and reflective, a great place to go to have a meditative art nature experience

Nigerian batik spiral damask fabric with vintage English wool stripe suiting fabric trouser. Elastic and button fastening for adjustability at the back.
I found the batik adire fabric at @nikeartfoundation around 2016. Amazing fabrics as well as paintings. Image 2 shows 'Higher vision,' 1997 acrylic painting by Nike Okundaye, an image from one of her books.

Foraging and paths walked embroidery close up. Machine embroidery and fabric pens on secondhand denim, with straw cord and a handmade cord made from the scrap threads left over from sewing. I made the cord after being inspired at a wild cordage workshop a few years ago, where Fi the facilitator showed the group how to make cord from corn husks, banana plant and nettle.

Made some adjustments to this reworked denim top I keep going back to. Added a batik Ghanaian fabric back, shirred with elastic for stretch. The front is a mix of embroidery and left over pieces of fabrics in wavy sea plant forms
