Melissa Auf der Maur (@xmadmx ), the veteran bassist whose stints with Hole and Smashing Pumpkins helped make them pillars of Nineties rock and beyond, will release her memoir next year. I remember seeing Hole back in ‘95 pre internets and phones - having only seen images of the band in magazines and the occasional tv thing, felt surreal seeing these mystical angsty humans in real life exuding a calm rage like I’d never seen before. @xmadmx the bassist of Hole and Smashing Pumpkins has an amazing memoir out now called ‘Even The Good Girls Will Cry’ that captures this moment in time perfectly from her perspective standing in the calm centre of a tempest - within that book is this playlist of her 90s music, listen to it in the link in bio - it’s really good.
Our Light Up the Night benefit concert @basilicahudson on May 30th offers a singular concert experience for music aficionados as well as people that simply enjoy being a part of something special. It will be an evening that feels less like a performance and more like being invited into the room where the music happens. The stage will be set with an intimate, living room–style environment, drawing the audience into close connection with the artists, where every note and spontaneous moment is shared.
Throughout the night, a lineup of world-class musicians—including Melissa Auf Der Maur, Aaron Dessner, Joachim Cooder, Gail Ann Dorsey, HAERTS, and Rachel Loshak—rotates, collaborates, and reimagines the music in real time, guided by our dynamic host Walton Goggins. We envision an evening that will blur the line between performer and listener resulting in a dynamic, unscripted flow of sound and story.
