We created the visual concept for Gyldendal's antiquity series at Wrong Studio back in 2019, and to this day it keeps on growing.

Rytme is now 1 year! I started building it 2 years ago, but it’s now been one year since Rytme launched its first collection. Here are some of my favorite moments from the ride. I get butterflies when I think of all the things I want to create with Rytme and I hope you will too. Thank you for your support and everyone who helped me along the way. Love, Christel

Our first monograph, *Compelling Minimalism*, published by @rizzolibooks , is written by the incredible power woman @shawandtell , with graphics and layout by the talented @wrong.studio (Andreas & Jess). The book features forewords by Mr. Tyler Brûlé. It offers a deep dive into our world and way of life, bringing insights, inspiration, stories, select works, compelling conversations with Helen Nonini, Takafumi Kawakami among others, and our manifesto. Get your copy from Rizzoli & dealers or via OEO Studio website. #compellingminimalism #monograph #rizzolibooks #ourwayoflife

A big thank you to everyone who joined us in Copenhagen last night at &Tradition’s stunning showroom where I had the pleasure of asking Thomas and Anne-Marie of @oeo_studio about the quiet power of compelling minimalism, their new book published by @rizzolibooks and the story behind their new Ita collection - a series of sublimely simple, elegant and crafted dining and coffee tables and benches that cleverly flatpack - which they designed for @andtradition #BookEvent #OEOstudio

We are thrilled to announce that our first book, ‘Compelling Minimalism’, will soon be hitting the streets, with a global launch scheduled for mid-March. This achievement is the result of years of planning and dedication. We couldn’t have reached this milestone without our incredible partner, Catherine Shaw, our talented editor and writer. A heartfelt thank you to all our contributors, as well as to Jess and Andreas for their stunning graphics. We also extend our gratitude to our publisher, Rizzoli, and the entire team, including Francesco, Cecilia, and Sara, along with our studio team. We are immensely proud of this journey and excited for what lies ahead! Peace and love. #compellingminimalism #rizzolibooks #infusedbythespiritofjapan #oeostudio #ourwayoflife

The chapters in our new book OEO STUDIO— CONTEMPORARY MINIMALISM present an insight into the influences and ingenuity that are the cornerstones of Thomas & Anne-Marie’s designs. Each differs in size, location and aesthetic - some are more private, while others prioritise communication, but they all share the essential spark of compelling minimalism. This chapter is on Kaikado, a small traditional workshop in Kyoto, where the Yagi family make their famous tinplate tea caddy. The process, which involves 130 meticulous steps carried out by a small team of highly skilled artisans, has remained unchanged since Kaikado was founded in the Meiji Restoration. Thomas & Anne-Marie were entrusted with the design of a new collection of household objects to be made by these artisans, and went on to design the interiors of the new contemporary Kaikado Cafe. The Cafe is extraordinary – and one of my favourite places to visit in Kyoto - I am ever grateful to Julia Maeda of @tokyopersonalised for her personal introduction years ago to Takahiro Yagi, the 6’th generation owner. Their excellent coffee is made with the same meticulous attention to quality and detail as their tea caddies and is usually the first place I visit when I arrive in Kyoto. As you can see on this short video reel, the interiors honour both place and industrial heritage, preserving and enhancing the qualities of the original building, while adding a contemporary sensibility. It makes me want to jump on a plane right now! #whatcatherineloves #kyoto #kaikado #oeostudio #compellingminimalism #interiors #productdesign #Japan Graphics & layout: @wrong.studio Publisher: @rizzolilibri

One of the four conversations featured in our new book - OEO Studio: Compelling Minimalism - is between Thomas and Anne-Marie and the twenty-fourth-generation head priest of Shunkoin Temple, Reverend TAKAFUMI ZENRYU KAWAKAMI. I first met the Reverend in 2011 when I was living in Tokyo and took my two young children to Kyoto. We stayed at the Reverend’s beautiful Zen Temple where he very kindly and patiently introduced them to Zazen (seated meditation). I highly recommend his TEDx Talk on how mindfulness can help you to live in the present. In the book, we discussed his thoughts on how Zen spiritual teachings and meditation inspire a deeper connection to, and understanding of, the essence of design. We explored the question of why perfection is so difficult to achieve, and the concept of ‘ma’, particularly in the sense of why when designing a Japanese garden, the focus is on how to create a space, not where to place a rock. As the reverend says, “…so a Japanese garden has no centerpiece, which is why it’s impossible to capture on camera. In a kaiseki meal, there’s no main dish, right? What do you enjoy is the continuity, but also the space, the atmosphere and the people, so ma cannot be controlled because it’s interdependent. It is an uncomfortable aspect, which I think Thomas and Anne-Marie understand because they engage with people.” #rizzoli #compellingminimalism #compellingminimalism #zen #oeostudio #newbook #designinsights #mindfuldesign #mindfulness #meditation #zazen #shunkointemple

A sneak peek of the Contents of our new book - OEO Studio: Compelling Minimalism - which includes a thoughtful Foreword by Tyler Brûlé, and Thomas and Anne-Marie’s personal insights into ten of the studio’s projects from Denmark to Japan and California. There are also four fascinating conversations about creativity, innovation and mindful design with Head Priest Reverend Takafumi Zenryu Kawakami, design aesthete and brand advisor Helen Nonini, Noma chef and co-owner René Redzepi and the Director of the Designmuseum Danmark Anne-Louise Sommer.
