Luke Day is an artist based on Wadawurrung Country whose practice combines painting, sculpture, and collage, primarily using oil, acrylic, found materials, and studio debris. Day’s works develop through a constant up-cycling of ideas and materials from one body of work to the next, overlapping histories and narratives between each piece.  Taking Shape, 631 Victoria Street, Abbotsford this Design Week. @estrentals @ngvmelbourne @creative_vic

Melbourne based artist Ann U @________.u______ ‘s has a practice spanning ceramic sculpture, objects, lighting, and furniture. Through intuitive making and experimentation, U embraces unpredictability as an essential part of her process. Sculpted from a custom blend of clays and aggregates, her work often uses experimental glazes and undergoes multiple firings, allowing alchemical transformations to reveal the final work. Come see her work and that of 19 other Australian artists and designers at Taking Shape, Park House, 631 Victoria Street, this Design Week 14-24 May. @estrentals #australianartists #melbournedesignweek @ngvmelbourne @creative_vic

Root to Stem is an after-hours dining experience presented by WRAP in collaboration with Chef Johnny Hasan (Patris) and Est., set inside the immersive Taking Shape exhibition. Across two exclusive evenings, guests are invited to gather around a shared long table for a Mediterranean-inspired tasting menu that transforms humble ingredients. Drawing on his journey from Bangladesh to Naarm/Melbourne’s hospitality scene, local schools, and now Patris, Hasan’s approach is grounded in generosity, resourcefulness, and deeply considered flavours. Thoughtfully using every part of the ingredient, from citrus rind to vegetable skin, the menu reimagines overlooked elements through elegant, produce-driven dishes designed to surprise and delight. Tickets include a multi-course tasting menu and a drink on arrival, with additional beverages available for purchase. Vegetarian options and dietary requirements can be accommodated. Limited to 35 guests per seating across two nights only. Presented by WRAP x Chef Johnny Hasan @sspatris x Est. @estrentals The Park House – Riverbank

@den_holm , led by Naarm/Melbourne-based artist and designer @stevenjohnclark is a multidisciplinary studio crafting functional works that blur the line between art and utility. Clark’s background in both stonemasonry and fashion lends a layered approach to his work, drawing broad reference from architectural periods, fashion and textiles, and his own unique visual language which extends from denHolm’s furniture focus to Clark’s separate sculptural practice under his own name. WRAP are delighted to showcase works from both practices this Melbourne Design Week. Visit these and works by 19 other artists and designers at The Park House, Abbotsford, 14–24 May. #melbournedesignweek #australianart #australiandesign #australianartists #australiandesigners @estrentals @ngvmelbourne @creative_vic

“Huntley is a tactile, process-driven artist… [his] gift is his intuitive wielding of materials to marry content with form; to transform the earthly, primordial medium of clay into something airborne and free.” — Anita Spooner (Curator & Writer) See @brendanhuntley ’s work in Taking Shape this Melbourne Design Week at the Park House, 631 Victoria Street, Abbotsford. @wrap_au @estrentals @ngvmelbourne @creative_vic #australianart #australianartists

Makiko Ryujin is a Japanese-born, Melbourne-based artist, woodturner, designer and photographer practising experimental techniques. Ryujin creates sculptural works which bring together centuries old techniques with contemporary making. Her forms often draw reference from sacred Japanese temple vessels, and are painstakingly turned and shaped on the lathe. During the long air drying process, Ryujin’s works begin to shift as the green wood loses moisture. The final dramatic transformation takes place as the timber chars and splits during the unpredictable burning process. See Ryujin’s work in Taking Shape at The Park House, Abbotsford this Melbourne Design Week, 14–24 May, 10am – 5pm daily. @makikoryujin @estrentals #makikoryujin #takingshape #australianart #australiandesign sculpture @ngvmelbourne @creative_vic
