We are just shy of 2 months since opening for dinner as a restaurant.
In 2025 we headed into 140 Barkly Street BRUNSWICK as fresh newlyweds with an already booked trip to Greece/Cyprus to see our grandmother ~ AND ~ to Bangladesh for our niece’s wedding.
1/2 of us is a first-time small business owner, in a state where it seems almost impossible to be so. Events/catering are our bread & olive oil but opening to the public was always our ambition. A lot of passion, love, anxiety, stress, excitement and fear has gone into Patris, however, with the support of our family and friends we are here, we are open.
Thank you to @quincepaste_ who came to us serendipitously right after our first week, for seeing us and our small “off-the-main-drag” Patris and to @broadsheet_melb
Here’s to migrant Brunswick, to our grandparents & parents who came here on ships like the SS Patris, who made a home in the Northside despite the alienation from all that they knew ~ in particular thank you for the FOOD!

Today we dove into someone incredibly talented and close to all our hearts here at Patris, that is, Maria Callas. Her story is inspiring, harrowing and yet beautiful. Callas has always been and will always be an incredible Greek icon. Her voice, her talent, her pain and her story; all equally important, knitted together to create the story of Maria Callas.

This time… with our lovely Peter! Peter has worked with us since Patris came to be. His dad is from the island of Lesbos and we wanted to dedicate this episode to the history and rich culture Lesbos has to offer, from Sappho to the beloved spirit Ouzo!

Melbourne Design Week, We’re Here!
And we are super exciting to be collaborating with our good friends, Sarah and David, at @wrap_au for you.
As many of you may know, our Chef Johnny is extremely passionate about reducing waste in the kitchen. He has spent many years, prior to Patris, teaching Zero Waste Workshops and passing on his recipes and techniques to many across Melbourne.
‘Root to Stem’ will be a long table feast inside an exhibition of Australian art and design.
Alongside a 3-course meal and complimentary drink, Johnny will be hosting and demonstrating the dishes being served and breaking down just how much can come out of one piece of produce. Make sure to ask him lots of questions!
