OPEN STUDIO | Sameer Farooq (Toronto/Canada) | Tuesday 28 April | 3–8:30 PM Join us to celebrate Sameer Farooq’s residency with us: 🥂 Drinks from 3 PM 🍴Food by @zars.plate from 6 PM 💬 Talk between Sameer Farooq and Joana P. R. Neves from 6.30 PM Sameer Farooq @studiosameerfarooq is a Toronto-based artist of Pakistani and Ugandan Indian descent. He suggests new ways of narrating our cultural histories, often in collaboration with others. His artistic projects counterbalance how dominant institutions speak about our lives, through counter-archives, new additions to museum collections, and by making buried histories visible. “I had the idea of the internal archive, as opposed to the external archive […] We already hold a vast amount of storage in our mind’s eye, which we can begin to articulate, visualise.” Read Joana’s full interview with Sameer on our Substack — link in bio! Canada <-> International @_canada_international has established an annual Toronto-focused residency with Worlding, London (UK). In partnership with the Toronto Biennial of Art @torontobiennial (TBA), residency artists will be selected from TBA’s past and present editions, deepening their engagement both locally and internationally. This residency is generously supported by "Canadian friends of Sameer Farooq @ Worlding". A special thank you to Zoë Foster @zoe_foster_ & Alexandra Lambert @aelambert1 for this collaboration. 📅 Tuesday 28 April | 3 – 8:30 PM 📍WORLDING, 65-69 County St, Elephant & Castle, SE1 4AD Image used is from a still of “The Museum Visits a Therapist”, 2021 co-created by artists Mirjam Linschooten & Sameer Farooq

APRIL RESIDENT | SAMEER FAROOQ This month we are pleased to welcome our April resident Sameer Farooq @studiosameerfarooq “While in London I will be researching the collections of several encyclopaedic museums and thinking about how we can re-choreograph their objects to broaden our understanding of history. This will involve trying to unfreeze “museum time.” The goal of my work is to always soften the edges of strict institutional categories and introduce surprising collisions and collaborations between different populations and regions.”  Sameer Farooq is a Toronto-based artist of Pakistani and Ugandan Indian descent. With a versatile approach that shifts between photography, documentary film, sculpture, and anthropological methods, he investigates strategies of representation to expand the ways through which museums have looked at the past through traditional forms of collection, interpretation and display. Farooq foregrounds community-based models of knowledge production and an array of contemplative practices in order to suggest new ways of narrating our cultural histories. The result is often a collaborative work which counterbalances how dominant institutions speak about our lives: a counter-archive, new additions to a museum collection, or a buried history made visible. This residency marks the beginning of an annual Toronto-focused residency in partnership with Canada<->International @_canada_international and Toronto Biennial of Art @torontobiennial (TBA). TBA residency artists will be selected from their past and present editions, deepening their engagement both locally and internationally. A special thank you to Zoë Foster @zoe_foster_ & Alexandra Lambert @aelambert1 for this collaboration. Image 6: Sameer Farooq, Flatbread Library, 2024. Thank you to everyone who came to our Open Studio in conversation with our February - March artist resident Carla Filipe @carlafilipe_not_carle_felipe on “The journey and its alterabilities in the identity process.” The artist shared how art residencies, in different formats and contexts, influence and transform her working process. By offering time, space, and support for creative immersion, these experiences make it possible to pause routine and open new fields of research, reflection, and production. This Open Studio also featured the usual participation of Chef Artur @zars.plate who created a menu in collaboration with Carla Filipe, inspired by her installation “Migration, Exclusion, and Resistance” - a garden dedicated to non-conventional food plants. We hope you enjoyed this gathering bringing together art, conversation, landscape and food. This residency was made possible with the support of @fcgulbenkian ………………………..…………………………………… #openstudio #worlding #artistresidency #carlafilipe #artisttalk

STATIC DREAMS (Private View but open to all) Burning hot Wendy houses. Scribbles on sofa backs. The soft whirring of scratched CDs. As we move further and further away from our childhoods, these memories begin to haze. Walk too far away from the source, and the signal begins to weaken. Forms, once tangible and full of life, begin to blur at the edges. Static dances across the images. Static Dreams brings together the work of Elizabeth O’Farrelly and Mia Zeferino-Birchall to rebuild the playful landscape of childhood. A landscape existing at the cross-section of play and pixels. — 📍@worldingproject 65-69 County Street SE1 4AD 🗓️Friday 27th March 2026 (ONE NIGHT ONLY!!) 🕔5-9pm 🖼️Private View but open to all Please come along to see our work. It would be lovely to have you there. Come say hi :) @elizabeth.ofarrelly @mzbtextiles @worldingproject #londonexhibition #artexhibition #contemporaryart #textileart #scultpure
