⭐️ FINAL YEAR SPOTLIGHT ⭐️ STITCH • MIA ZEFERINO-BIRCHALL • @mzbtextiles Mia’s final major project, Cached Memories, is inspired by her time living in Berlin. A time in her life that exists now as fragmented memories in her head and as digital pixels on a screen, through pictures. Exploring forms that were once tangible and full of life as they begin to blur at the edges, she applies stages of digital compression and abstraction to images and photographs before translating them into textile and embroidery pieces.

STATIC DREAMS (Private View but open to all) Burning hot Wendy houses. Scribbles on sofa backs. The soft whirring of scratched CDs. As we move further and further away from our childhoods, these memories begin to haze. Walk too far away from the source, and the signal begins to weaken. Forms, once tangible and full of life, begin to blur at the edges. Static dances across the images. Static Dreams brings together the work of Elizabeth O’Farrelly and Mia Zeferino-Birchall to rebuild the playful landscape of childhood. A landscape existing at the cross-section of play and pixels. — 📍@worldingproject 65-69 County Street SE1 4AD 🗓️Friday 27th March 2026 (ONE NIGHT ONLY!!) 🕔5-9pm 🖼️Private View but open to all Please come along to see our work. WIP WEDNESDAY 🪡🧵 Spent my morning in the stitch workshop. Working on a large scale pixel motif embroidery piece on the digital machine. All coded imagery generated using Processing and the PEmbroider library. The design is inspired by a curtain in my grandparents old kitchen. #digitalembroidery #coding #pixelart

Alba ❤️ A special commission for Lena, a portrait of her grandmother Alba. A beautiful gift for her grandmother’s birthday. This piece was such an honour to create, knowing just how special grandmothers are. It was a joy to create the drawing and then watch it come to life through embroidery. I drew the main portrait on Photoshop and then processed it through code using Processing x PEmbroider to be digitally embroidered. I then finished the piece with some hand embroidery, adding in the delicate border and floral details. — #embroidery #portrait #textileart #grandmother #artist #digitalembroidery

DANCE | Future Play | London Tech Week ‘25 — In June of this year, I had the privilege of developing a project to be displayed at London Tech Week as part of CCI’s Future Play stage. Working alongside @djinntoniiic and an amazing team at @ual_cci . It was an incredible opportunity and experience, one that I never imagined being a part of but one that I’ll never forget. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen. Truly couldn’t have done it without you all. And hopefully this isn’t the end of my tech adventures. — DANCE 💃🏼🕺🏼 This interactive installation explores dance as a communicative phenomenon. How dance integrates the body and mind through movement, with physical movement having the ability to establish lines of nonverbal communication through which dancers and viewers can listen, respond to and understand one another. Demonstrating the idea of dance communication being a continuous feedback loop between dancer and audience. Focusing on kinesics, this piece utilises motion capture technology to record your body’s coordinates in space, with the ability to track and capture up to 4 players at a time. Transforming your movement and gestures into a fun, interactive installation to dance along with. — @ldntechweek @ual_cci Project Partner | Anton Rolland @djinntoniiic Future Play Graphic Design | @sebkoseda Photography | Martin Andersen © 2025 #londontechweek2025 #futureplay #cci #interactiveinstallation #kinect #touchdesigner

hours of painting condensed into 60s 🎨 Sibling Series Project | ‘Mia’ When we were younger, my brothers and I had portraits painted of us by our parents. And now that we’re grown, I am painting us new ones. Each with their own signature monochrome palette, using the cross-stitch inspired pixel painting technique which I used for a recent portrait of my grandmother. Starting the project with myself. Mia. Working in green. #portraitpainting #selfportrait #crossstitch #pixelpainting #acrylicpaint #artist
