Tomorrow in Munich we are doing a special performance of our show 'Unravelling the Mind'.
This is an audiovisual experience where we pose the question: what is intelligence? The show introduces the audience to the problem solving abilities of slime mould, as well as the insight held by indigenous Amazonian plant experts into microbiology and ecology, provoking both wonderment and respect for nature.
With live music by us and video art by @florianjapp
‘Unravelling the Mind’ is an artistic response to the climate crisis, that provides a connection between science and the senses, leaving the audience with a new perspective on intelligent life, that places nature and the environment in the centre of our value system.

Doing our usual madness with electrified hybrid flutes, anarchic soprano vocals and shapeshifting guitar, at @fluidformclub back in April...
Filmed by Beat Halberschmidt (Berta Berlin)
Quite a while before AI was rammed down all our throats, we met @avbadham and @ultimo_gomito for a coffee in Kreuzberg. We played them OUTFOX and asked "how would you depict this music in a video?". Gomito raised his iconic eyebrows and muttered a lot of things about chasing rabbits and scenes changing at lightspeed while Alex remained quiet with a gentle smirk and said: "what if some CGI android versions of you hijacked your music, stuck you in some sort of tank and then masqueraded as you, playing a gig at the Uber Eats arena while you were still trapped in the vortex?"
This was not intended to be a prophecy but we did think it sounded appropriate. You can now watch what we made over on youtube. LINK IN BIO

Witch 'n' Monk x moers festival 2026 🔮

Revolutions tend to be loud but historically haven't been played on hybrid kena flutes & mozeños, a guitar-drum and anarchic soprano vocals.

That was a crazy gig...just remembering our collaboration with @ensembleluxnm and @alasnoaxis at the Berlin Jazzfest back in 2020. We arranged music from our eponymous album - that infamous album we wrote without thinking about time signatures or tuning systems because, as we thought at the time, "we'll never have to score it anyway..." Turns out we did have to transcribe grooves that deliberately switched between feels in something close to 13, with no fixed "1", and notes we had played sharp in the heat of the improvised moment, which we then harmonised into mega quarter tone chords...well somehow it worked out because these musicians are astonishing. Here's a section of some of the solos from 'Escarbando' (funnily enough a section which we added just for this performance). The whole performance is on YouTube.
A Handful of Fives returns on Sunday, February 15th. 🙂
For those who don't know, A Handful of Fives occurs once a year in between @mo_notice seasons. It riffs off the five-musician format of @mo_notice , only this time in established combos/solos and in any feasible configuration of five. For last year's debut Handful we had An Alien Called Harmony (trio) Kadialy (solo) Saied Silbak (solo).
This next Five is duo, duo, solo and i think you'll be blown away by all three:
DUO: Witch 'n' Monk: Heidi Heidelberg (Anarchic Soprano, Guitar) Mauricio Velasierra (Flute)
@witchnmonk@heidiheidelberg@velasierra
DUO: Miriam Solomon (Voice) Rosie Turton (Trombone)
@miryamsolomon@rosie.turton
SOLO: Simon Roth - One Thing/ at a time (Drums)

Live at AMP Studios, Old Kent Road
Sunday, 15/02/2026: 14:00-20:00

Another one of our easy-to-learn earworms to let you know we are playing in Austria this week 👇
After a night in Graz @cafewolfgraz we will travel to Vienna and a're thrilled to be joined by some special guests. We were invited by the good people at @porgyandbessvienna to do a 3 day residency and invite some Viennese musicians to collaborate, so we chose the great @rom.peter (Mar 5) and @jan_samson________high_touring (Mar 6) for a couple of special improvised sets, then on Saturday night (Mar 7) we play alone.
Come and sing along! See you there!
