I had a fantastic time covering the role of Don Magnifico and serenading in the chorus of courtiers for @hurncourtopera in April! It was a super couple of weeks in Bournemouth, and was a pleasure to be a part of such a brilliant cast. ✨ Meet William Semple who will be covering the role of Don Magnifico and performing in the Chorus for our upcoming production of La Cenerentola. ✨ Baritone William Semple has recently completed his master’s studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with distinction under the tutelage of Iain Paton and Cameron Burns, where he was generously supported by the RCS Trust. During his time at RCS, he performed the role of Zalzal in the RCS Opera School’s production of Chabrier’s L’étoile, and also featured as bass soloist in Mozart‘s Requiem. Other operatic roles include 1st Mate Billy Budd, Zaretsky & Captain Eugene Onegin and Junius The Rape of Lucretia. Recent engagements include Judas & Pontifex 2 St. Matthew Passion at the Edinburgh International Festival with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus and the BBC SSO, and Eugene Onegin for HGO, in which he covered the title role. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of singing the part of Judas & Pontifex 2 in Mendelssohn’s adaptation of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion @edintfest . I had a lot of fun working with the incredible musicians of the @bbcsso conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth, and with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus directed by James Grossmith. It was an honour to be singing with a group of world class soloists, and of course the legendary @fraserrobinsonbaritone ✨
