friends!! there are many books on the shelves of apport used books in emmaus. and every month a couple volumes fall or wiggle free and out comes a poet, or a singer, an instrumentalist, or a band. on saturday june 6th at 5pm we have just such a couple books for you! Michael Cormier-O’Leary, Unwelcomed, and well, william h. of the william h. travis variety. @milkocromlom / Michael shall be coming to us from the city of love, that brotherly kind! and his music sounds like love, a warm fireplace, a cozy armchair near it, wherefrom there is a view of fond childhood, and life actively well-lived. his music feels like an entire photo album of a family’s life, except it’s not from the past, it’s from the now. @unwelcomedart / Anastasia’s music sounds like the songs a prairie house would sing. a house that many generations of a family lived in, laughed together, cooked together, chased each other in childhood games. the house is a national historic place now. and when you visit, the voice you hear is anastasia’s of collected time and memory. and then there’s william h. travis who shall have some dear guest vocalists. the music sounds like hitting your funny bone really hard and then the curious notion of trying it again when it no longer bothers you. this shall be an apport show of daylight! please come join us! final picture is of dearest ben of @apportusedbooks when he visited me at my home one fine day.

jason calhoun//the song poet//sailcloth (ft. chelsea smarr) paired music with the inimitable paintings of sarah bachman at steel pixel studios in bethlehem, pa. it was the first night of jason’s tour and all the known elements came together. al’s earthy upright, the wind of nia’s words and chimes, the trickling rain of jason’s synths, fire! this weekend last a strange bird appeared at national sokols, a whirlybird. @whirlybird__ . lee played as loud as the inside of a tornado. when i closed my eyes i imagined i was in some forge, lee in welder’s gear, shaping an immense metal monolith of a piece of battleship or an instrument of unknown purpose, but gargantuan in size. not a week before i was in the same building with my dear friends celebrating a dear friend’s birthday. the memories collide like high speed debris and meld together. in three weeks their week apart may dissolve and become one memory. in here this video, it already has. a whirlybird will do that to you. if anyone shall build a time machine with sounds i count on lee and maybe that’s that this all is. only in the real world @lovesdevotee_clubrealworld

i tinkered with the idea of adding a song to soundtrack this video collage. and as i listened back more and again more i realized there is already music, there is already a song, it is a song sung by the collective voice of community. a community in bloom! if you will. (‘twas the theme of the exhibit.) conversation coated the room like waves of joy sound. and it was delightful. so many great artists of all varieties gathering in a space, that makes you have belief in a world where people look out for each other and celebrate each other and lift each other up. homebase, a skate-shop, clothier, nostalgia shop, museum of pop culture, art gallery, is a space that celebrates people. and they’ve been housing lehigh valley artist meet up (lvam) art exhibits. keep an eye out to participate! i hear a form is being made to sign up! and also come on out to see and support and be inspired! @homebase610 // @lvartistmeetup

The moment I returned from my trip to dc a couple weeks back I was met by travis standing in my parking spot unannounced like a cartoon, mumbling many words. The only ones I caught were “let’s go for a walk”. I think. Naturally I left the house moments later with a guitar in one hand and a full coffee mug in the other. After many reflections on life’s conclusions made on this trip, I felt taller than ever. Until we faced the moment under the cherry blossom, where we realized the guitar case was locked and I didn’t have the key. You’re still you, no matter where you go. friends! got some lovely musical sharing events coming up! may 2nd at west reading porch fest with billy mack collector! yes, you are reading this correctly. unless not?? show in reading! with billy mack! @westreadingporchfest / @billymackcollectorcollector may 3rd at barn on brad street with spirit guide (jason crosby and john morgan kimock) joined by spencer murphy. and i’ll playing a set of my stuff as well! in ways yet unknown. only a barn could harness the energies of these musical savants. and people watch movies thinking dragons and wizards don’t exist anymore! they just adapted and changed forms into musical iterations. @jasoncrosbymusic / @johnmorgankimock / @habanerojones and then i’ll be taking a rest from shows to try to catch up on a bunch of ongoing projects. with orange foam pressed into my ears, i could still hear the waterfall deluge, the hissing sound of losing my hearing. but it did not bother me for it was to the resplendent sounds of gladie. it was one of those performances that just by my eyes seeing such physical movement my brain was convinced that i needed tylenol for the impending neck pain i would feel. “what would i feel like to want nothing?” the lyrics ask. enraptured in the music of gladie, i say in response, “nothin’ nothin’ nothin’ nothin’” an excellent evening brought to those there by paul and @wmuhfm @gladie_band

we walked through the cold rain of a dark muhlenberg campus and slunk into the dry wing of a bright hall. there were students, in sleek university sitting contraptions often called chairs, staring into the black holes of their screens at dream colored futures. down an inclined plane, past the studious, we entered a room likely designed to house the most epic power point presentations. and in this room we were mauled by the music of noun. ear drums beaten like drums of war. here is a bit of it all. huge thanks to paul and @wmuhfm for ceaselessly bringing great art and artists to the valley. and too supporting those of the valley. @nountheband
