How we spent 3 weeks in the Scottish Highlands, living out of a tent box: We started rather chaotically, attempting to put up the roof tent in 40+ mph winds before heading towards the Isle of Skye. From there we spent close to 2 weeks exploring everything the Isle had to offer, from the black sands of Talisker Bay to the most northern point at Rhuba Hunish. Skye completely captured our hearts. Even with nights dropping to -3, we quickly fell in love with life on the road. Nights we used to spend sleeping in the front seat of the car turned into cosy nights sleeping above the car! Some of my favourite moments were the quieter ones, like an afternoon in the Lookout bothy by the sea, eating a shop-bought lunch and making coffee with our @aeropressuk while we watched for whales. 🐳 On your next visit to Skye, make sure to check out all of the amazing local businesses when you visit! Our favourites consisted of @leantocoffee , @birch.coffee , @bogmyrtleskye , @themistybottleskye , @caoracoffee I’m already dreaming our of next trip to Scotland šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁓ó æ #isleofskye #tentbox #scotland #explorescotland #getoutdoors

What if we just did it? This question had been sitting with me for years, especially every time I thought about Sgurr na Stri, a place I’d been wanting to hike and photograph for years. So in February, we took 3 weeks to explore the Isle of Skye and ticked off one of my bucket list hikes. Hiking into the remote valley and spending the night in a bothy by the sea wasn’t even the highlight of this trip. It was the 5am wake up call, making our own route up the mountain, and the view at the top of Sgurr Na Stri. This hike had captivated me for years, and to finally experience it was incredible. Thanks to @sansonilens as always for the wonderful photos of me, and always being my hiking companion. First launch event in the books and what a way to kick things off.
I had the privileged to photograph the LOWA Explorer GTX Mid Boot launch with @sansonilens in beautiful Martindale, Lake District. We split into groups and hiked up Place Fell, refuelled with an unreal dinner from @big5catering (seriously, that cheesecake?!), and ended the night with an inspiring Everest talk from Tim. He didn’t quite convince me to climb Everest as one of my holidays … but his photos definitely planted a tiny seed šŸ‘€ I want to do it all over again already! ā˜€ļø

If you do one thing in the U.K, it has to be the NC500! Exploring the North Coast 500 can feel overwhelming the first time. There’s so many gorgeous villages, beaches, viewpoints, and places to stay, all spread across 516 miles of the Scottish Highlands. AD That’s why I genuinely recommend the North Coast 500: Where to Eat and Stay and the Collins NC500 Pocket Map if you’re planning the route. The breakdown of the route into clear sections was my favourite feature. It meant we could quickly focus on the areas we cared about most, such as North West Sutherland where we found campsites like Sango Sands Oasis, where you can park right up on the beach front. Additionally, the map made checking our route a whole lot easier, especially with moments of patchy signal. If you’re heading around the NC500, I think you’ll love having something this organised to refer back to. North Coast 500: Where to Eat and Stay and the Collins NC500 Pocket Map are available to buy now. @collins_ref @highlands2hammocks #CollinsBooks #CollinsMaps #NorthCoast500 #nc500

If I’m being honest, I have over 40,000 photos, so picking favourites isn’t really possible. I just found photos from my camera roll that reminded me of happy memories! Whether it’s from roaming the Scottish Highlands, sipping Sangria in the Spanish sun, or capturing people’s special days, creating memories that last forever is so special to me. #sonyshooter #photographer #LexarXStrohl #femalephotographer sonyalpha @sonyalphaeu @sony.unitedkingdom @sonyalpha @sigmauk

Today is Earth Day 🌱 I watched Project Hail Mary recently, and that made it feel so real. Let’s protect our home. #earthday2026 #birdphotography #earthday

The morning of dreams. Our mission: Sunset conditions at the iconic spot ā€˜the needle’. But when we reached the top of the road, the wind was awful, and we were tired after a long day exploring, so we drafted a new plan. Sunrise at The Quiraing the next morning. So we popped the @tentbox up nearby, and made it back up to the spot before the sun. As we began our walk, the sun glowed on the horizon, but then out of nowhere, a storm cloud appeared, and snow fell. The golden light, mixed with snow was magical. A feeling I can’t actually describe washed over me, and it’s one of the many times I’ve cried over the beauty of nature. Being able to capture precious memories like this morning, is why I love photography. And on our walk, we met another wonderful photographer @danjames.p who joined us as we attempted to walk ever so elegantly down a steep slope back from the needle. A wonderful morning and a wonderful memory. Scotland will never get old. Thanks to @sansonilens for the shots of mwah! If you’re heading to Scotland soon, this walk is a MUST ! Deep in the shadows of Glen Nevis, Steall Waterfall is the U.K’s 2nd tallest waterfall. The walk is under 5k, and there’s around 200m of elevation before you reach the gorgeous view. To reach the base of the waterfall there’s a wire bridge to get there, which can be quite sketchy, but it’s an amazing hike. Save this for your next trip to Scotland. #scotland #ukhiking #steallwaterfall #waterfallhiking #explorescotland

The intricate details of life we often miss, whether it’s from sleeping in or just life getting too busy. Sometimes when you stop and take an early morning walk or an evening stroll, the tiny bits of life you witness are truly magical. #artofnoticing #sonyshooter #tinydetails #discoverscotland #getoutdoors @sonyalpha @sony.unitedkingdom

I lived in a tent box in the Scottish highlands, and I brought back more than photos. Living out of a car brought this mix of adventure and forced minimalism — and trust me, it was far from neat.
But I loved it.
Being outside became the default, not the escape.
And even though it was temporary, that month on the road felt wonderful. With our only worries being where to sleep, where to hike, and what to eat next…life felt strange in the simplest, best way. I cannot wait to get back on the road for another adventure šŸ’— Shot using @sonyalphaeu A7iii & A7IV #tentbox #scotlandroadtrip #carcamping #ukroadtrip #outdoorliving
