All I really want to do with my creative energy is make art that means something within the pursuit of critical societal change. Fun, eh? Iāve been fortunate over the past few years to have quite a few chances do that. One of the works I find most meaningful in this vein has always been Weillās āSeven Deadly Sinsā. A few months ago, I released my first recording of this work, in english, on
@bisrecordsofficial with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and HK Gruber.
In a synchronistic twist of fate, my second recording of the Sins has also just come out. This time, in the original German version, Iām joined by the mercurial
@ensemblemodern ,
@amarcordofficial and HK Gruber, with whom I also toured this work to Carnegie Hall last season. Now streaming on all platforms, I recommend listening on Tidal, Qobuz or Deezer for artistsā rights, or even better, šæ purchasing our album āDancing on a Volcanoā directly from Ensemble Modern on their site.
Do let me know what you think - what comes up for you, which feelings it inspires - as I love to dig into the depths of what this text (Brecht) and music reveal. For me, itās always the hopelessness of seeking true peace and contentment within the capitalist society we live in. Dancing on a volcano, indeed. Hey, maybe thereās another option? š¤
