As a companion piece to the single release of Raye’s ‘Nightingale Lane’, here’s our ‘Live at Abbey Road’ version- with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Flames Collective. 1 take, and a classic Raye vocal for the ages. An absolute joy to conduct! Full film on YouTube.
Nightingale Lane. The 2nd song to be released from Raye’s forthcoming 2nd album. Another bucket list experience to have been a part of courtesy of Raye and her incredible team of collaborators. This time we really went for it and added the full might of the London Symphony Orchestra and the amazing Flames Collective- (all recorded live during a memorable day at Abbey Road studio 1). So proud to have co-written and co-produced this with my old friend and all round guru @chris_hill_musicmaker as well as OF COURSE @raye the genius who can sing about heartbreak like no-one else. HUGE shout out to Raye’s unbelievable engineer on high @alexro8inson Abbey Roads finest @dudders76@chris_james_parker additional orchestration @callumau and the legend @tonymaseratiofficial for the mix
Just putting this here as the Grammy ceremony is tomorrow. Win or lose, we took a real swing at this one and achieved something that I know we are all so proud of. Very best of luck to @raye and the whole crew, particularly those in attendance tomorrow @pauldugdale@stefandemetriou
Honoured to have been nominated for ‘best song musically and lyrically’ at this year’s Ivor Novello awards for Raye’s absolutely majestic 7 minute epic ‘Genesis’, alongside some proper musical heroes of mine. Congrats to fellow co-writers Rodney Jerkins, Marvin Hemmings and Shanks Ravindran. Such an amazing vibe in the room- a properly amazing group of writers, producers and artists, old and new, all celebrated for their incredible talents- a unique event in the musical calendar and an evening filled with many memorable moments. Thanks also to @sesac for the lovely congrats ad in the programme!
Grammys 2025 photo dump. A proper bucket list experience to write and play on one of the biggest stages there is in music- made all the better by the supremely talented and lovely bunch of musicians and crew involved. Raye really used this opportunity to show the world that she is at the height of her powers right now with an outstanding vocal performance on the night.
Thrilled to have written the big band arrangement for the new Michael Buble single “Don’t Blame It On Me”. Out NOW on his new 2024 record “The Best of Buble” 👍
Back in May I was asked to arrange and produce a version of this tune to feature Raye, for the forthcoming Scarlett Johansson/Channing Tatum movie of the same name. The brief from Raye was a slow, sumptuous string introduction that builds into slamming mid tempo 60s big band. I love writing these kinds of charts, and am really proud of this new version. An incredible team was put together for this: co-arranged with Evan Jolly, Mixed with James McMillan, big band/strings recorded by Jake Jackson @ Angel studios, London and Raye’s vocals recorded by Alex Robinson. As ever, the team from Isobel Griffiths helping to provide the finest musicians in all the land. Full track out now!
Here’s a glimpse of how we recorded Genesis pt. iii for Raye. All 22 of us, together, playing live in one room. Just the best way to make music. Anyone interested in getting hold of the sheet music for this big band arrangement, do get in touch, either on here, or through
