This year, we're honouring the legendary John Sweeney, who sadly passed away in June 2025.
John was more than a respected music executive – he was a tireless advocate for songwriters, a trusted colleague, and a passionate fan of music in all its forms. As Vice President, International at SESAC Performing Rights, he became a cornerstone of the UK music community, based in London but revered across continents.
Since joining SESAC in 2012, John helped build and support a remarkable group of creators, including #GlassAnimals, #MumfordandSons, #AltJ, #RexOrangeCounty, #Disclosure, #ThinLizzy, and many others. His work focused on songwriter and publisher relationships across the UK and much of the globe.
To honour his legacy and raise a toast, SESAC has programmed one of the most exciting showcases on the festival bill, with

To celebrate the launch of the stage, SESAC has announced the John Sweeney Impact Prize and the John Sweeney Legacy Prize, granting two lucky artists a £5,000 bursary in 2026. For the next 3 years, artists who play the John Sweeney stage will be eligible for the John Sweeney Impact Prize. 🏆
