Thought I’d share an end of season summary with some indicators of the next step.
Our fleet has grown from 2 to 5 boats in a relatively short time and there 3 brand new boats inbound to RFBYC later this year.
We competed in some stellar events, notably GBRW where we did 9 races in 2 days (I only photos of beers and fishing…).
The freshie summer season was alright, we now are going to push for a racing format better suited for class growth and involvement.
Major goal of 2027 is the Adelaide nationals in mid Jan, where we hope to have a strong contingent of WA boats over.

The fleet of VX Ones has grown to 5 in WA and we recently competed at the @eastfremantleyachtclub 16th Rumble in the reach.
The regatta is tough with 3-4 laps of a short course in a very narrow bit of water surrounded by cliffs. The VX’s stood out in the gusty and shifty winds with a win in the first race and a second in the second race.
Blackbird took out the speed challenge with a 18.6kt 2 second speed.
Up next is the @rfbyc event on Feb 1st with a similar event style.
First session for 2025/26 season. Was cold but good 18-23 knots of wind.
The boys still had it and had good fun cracking 20 knots. Super keen for this summer 🌬️

Full on day today, joined in the dinghy club racing for some tight racing with 3 laps. Trying to avoid any kids along the way!
Then went for a downind burn before the slog upwind.
Good to have new sailors with Adele, Eleanor and Lucas out today.

Top speed today is 22.2 and a 10 second average of 21.3 knots.

Open day was a mixed bag, good fun to be out racing the big yachts but not enough wind for us to plane and get flying.
Weekend looks good however with a strong Seabreeze forecast.
