A spring luncheon at Villa Gamberaia marked a meaningful new chapter in the life of this historic place, celebrating its first artist residency. Villa Gamberaia reveals itself as a living space of exchange, where art and landscape exist in constant dialogue. Within its timeless gardens, artists @fedebelligram and @claudiagrad , under the curatorship of @emanuelamazzonis , take part in A Stage in Nature, a site-specific project conceived in close relationship with the environment. Here, creation does not impose itself on nature but rather listens, responds, and grows from it. Villa Gamberaia continues to embody its enduring spirit—an intimate meeting point between past and present, where artists engage with space, memory, and light.

Florentia — from the Latin, “she who blossoms.”
As the myth tells it, Florence was founded during the Floralia, the ancient celebrations of renewal, when nature awakens and begins to bloom.
And here, at La Gamberaia, everything is in flower:
irises and climbing roses — the Albertine —,
water lilies and azaleas, plumbago and hydrangeas,
wild orchids, wisteria and jasmine,
and the blossoms of orange, lemon, mandarin, and citron trees.

In love, they say “it takes two to tango.” To care for the Gamberaia, it takes a village: hedges to prune, trees to tend, lemons to move… beauty is made of many souls.

The Gamberaia Art Files
The villa has long held a deep vocation: to protect and nurture the arts, offering a space where creativity can emerge, evolve, and enter into dialogue with the surrounding landscape.
This April, that spirit takes on a new form with Gamberaia’s first artist residency — an inaugural moment marking the beginning of a path dedicated to research and experimentation.
Among the artists in residence, Claudia Passeri, a second-generation Luxembourgish artist, will develop a site-specific project distinguished by her neo-romantic touch, weaving her vision into the villa’s natural and historical fabric in a sensitive dialogue between artwork and place.
A first chapter that opens the door to new presences, new ideas, and new forms of expression.

Art de vivre
At Villa Gamberaia, spring has arrived in a spirit of quiet jubilation.
What follows the vernal equinox is nothing short of a gentle awakening: nature stirs and renews itself. Plants and flowers return to life, and the gardens of Gamberaia reclaim their verdant rhythm. Irises unfurl in painterly succession, while the first tender wisteria buds open with unhurried grace. Lemons, having slumbered through their sweet winter dormancy in the ancient limonaia, emerge once more to bask in the Tuscan sun.
we chose to mark this seasonal rebirth with an intimate candlelit dinner, conceived as an ode to the art of hospitality and to the enduring rituals of conversation and conviviality, so intrinsic to the very soul of Villa Gamberaia. On this occasion we welcomed to our table four of the most esteemed wedding and event planners — @tuscanyblu , @monicaballievents , @annafrascisco , @madebymadeevents — alongside the haute footwear house @casadeiofficial , who presented a selection from its bridal collection. Joining them were wedding photographer and content creator @silvi_lubilubi , travel, lifestyle and hospitality journalist @alexiapetsinis , and the leading voice in the bridal world, @elle_spose spose represented by Giovanni Sparacio. The table itself was presided over by the villa’s trustee, Giovanni Paternò di Roccaromana, and one of its heirs, Sophie Schumacher @imschumi , lending the evening an added sense of continuity and custodianship.

After the war, when many Italian villas risked fading into silence, Marcello Marchi acquired Villa Gamberaia from the Vatican in 1954 with a clear intention: to restore not a monument, but a home. With architect Raffaello Trinci, he rebuilt it with scholarly care and domestic conviction. The villa was meant to be lived in.
Inside, elegance has always been inherited rather than declared. Soft linens temper the Tuscan light; damasks whisper rather than shine. Consoles and long tables carry the patina of conversation and garden flowers.
Ceramics, silver, books — nothing arranged for effect. At Gamberaia, style is not staged. It is simply life, unfolding beautifully
