✨ OPENING TODAY: FOREVER IS NOW 05 🇪🇬 It’s a huge honour to create a work in dialogue with one of the most iconic monuments in human history. “Doors of Cairo, 2025”, my new site-specific installation beside the Pyramids of Giza, is being unveiled today as part of this year’s edition, curated by @artdegypte . Doors of Cairo is, above all, a reflection on connection, between people and their surroundings, memory and place, what endures and what fades. Each door carries its own story: layers of paint, scratches, fingerprints, and repairs, silent witnesses to the lives they once framed. They hold stories of use and endurance, traces of the people and places that shaped them. Being the first Portuguese artist invited to take part in Forever is Now is both an honour and a truly special moment. 🗞️ Working with @courrierinter on this collaboration has been a truly unique experience. A special edition with four covers became a space for dialogue and reflection around the role of art in the public global sphere. It was a privilege to contribute to its development and to share a conversation with Patrick Bouchain, whose vision on architecture, collective spaces and cultural participation has been a source of inspiration. In a world that’s going increasingly digital, getting to celebrate print this way, and do it alongside voices I deeply respect, means everything. Alexandre Farto, aka Vhils, is a Portuguese artist internationally recognized for transforming urban surfaces into powerful visual narratives. Emerging from graffiti culture in the early 2000s, he developed a distinct approach based on excavation - revealing portraits by carving, drilling, and stripping away layers of the city itself. His works have been exhibited worldwide, establishing him as a leading figure in contemporary urban art. Parce que, surtout, nous voulions mettre en majesté l’édition papier du magazine. Un journal est aussi un objet. Pendant plusieurs mois, les équipes de Courrier international et celles du Studio Vhils ont échangé, travaillé ensemble, à Paris comme à Lisbonne, pour construire ce numéro spécial, dans sa dimension graphique et éditoriale. Alexandre Farto aka Vhils, has worked with us to produce this landmark edition, which includes a series of four special embossed covers. Our goal was to observe the world through his singular artistic lens, specifically examining the vital role art plays within the contemporary urban landscape. There is a profound synergy between Vhils’ work and the core themes of our magazine. This special issus celebrates the physicality of print. In an increasingly digital age, we wanted to draw attention to the magazine as a tangible object. For several months, Courrier international and Studio Vhils brainstormed ideas and worked together, in both Paris and Lisbon — from the graphic aesthetic to the editorial substance.
