For the first time ever, Courrier International has given full creative control over its content to an artist. Alexandre Farto aka Vhils, has worked with us to produce this landmark edition, which includes a series of four special embossed covers.
Our goal was to observe the world through his singular artistic lens, specifically examining the vital role art plays within the contemporary urban landscape. There is a profound synergy between Vhilsâ work and the core themes of our magazine.
This special issus celebrates the physicality of print. In an increasingly digital age, we wanted to draw attention to the magazine as a tangible object.
For several months, Courrier international and Studio Vhils brainstormed ideas and worked together, in both Paris and Lisbon â from the graphic aesthetic to the editorial substance.
This is a a dialogue between a newsweekly that observes the world and an artist who interprets it through his craft.
