A not so new work. 🐈‍⬛ Coltrane Coffee (@coltrane_coffee ) opened last year. The name is inspired by jazz legend John Coltrane. This coffee shop is a listening lounge that plays mostly jazz records. The brand’s icon is based on the famous jazz phrase “cool cats.” A “cool cat” is slang for a stylish, hip, confident, or laid-back person, often associated with jazz culture. The brand’s icon is a cat forming a musical note. 🎷 In-cafe signages are mostly hand-painted to maintain an analogue look and feel 🙏🏽

Identity design for @_wearesoft ‘s seventh edition. This edition focused on analog art and returned to where soft started - print. The organizers noticed the city has many weekly and monthly flea markets and thrift events, so they asked themselves: what makes soft different from your usual flea market? They thought hard and looked back to where they started - printed matter. The first soft really featured their love for prints, and there aren’t many markets in the city that focus on it. They then expanded to other analog forms like vinyl records and film photography. Hence they cheekily called it an analog edition. The identity revolves around imperfections - blurs, misregistrations, and ink blots. This is the charm of print, making each piece the same but not really the same. These imperfections show the maker’s effort and reveal beauty in the process. It was a fun and inspiring day! #soft7 📸 @minokawacollective

Our pieces inspired by CDO motorela and jeepneys 🙌🏼 We’re joining Ctrl+Nib this coming Sept 18 (Next week!) It’s an upcoming exhibition of emerging illustrator, graphic designers and digital artists whose works goes beyond traditional. Spotlighting raw, bold, and boundary-pushing visual storytellers from Cagayan de Oro and beyond. 🫡 Exhibition will be at the Archbishop House parking space. From Sept 18-Oct 15. Grateful to be part of this 🤘🏼

Earlier this year (and to our surprise), we had the opportunity to work with Mackun Hardware, one of Northern Mindanao’s leading hardware suppliers. If you’re from CDO, you’ve likely passed their store on Osmeña St., or bought supplies from them. Mackun Hardware has been a trusted dealer of construction and home improvement materials since 1978. Mackun tapped us to create merch designs to serve as gifts for their loyal patrons. Our task was to feature their bestselling products: cement, paint, steel, and wood. Inspired by common visuals at construction sites and on trucks, we created a mono-colored shirt design that can be worn both casually and on construction sites. 🔨🔧🛠️🏚️

Branding a small eatery was one of our dream projects, so when the opportunity came, we immediately grabbed it. Mamsie Ruby’s Eatery is a family-owned eatery in downtown Cagayan de Oro. This small karinderya offers a wide selection of Filipino dishes, all prepared with the supervision of Miss Ruby herself. It was important not to overdo it and make it looked very branded and polished, so we were careful throughout the process. We used familiar motifs seen in typical local karinderias. Also for context, Miss Ruby owns a floral shop adjacent to the building, which inspired us to use the floral vinyl mantel imagery as a key visual. We also drew inspiration from vintage signages and incorporated local dialect in some of the signages. They’re already open with affordable dishes. Located at Velez-Gaerlan Streets in Divisoria. ☺️
